Gov. Jay Promises Pipeline Jobs

Fossil Fuel seems poised to rule the Show-Me State economy . . .

Check it:

Missouri’s Governor used a forum sponsored by the American Petroleum Institute to promote a pipeline planned to traverse the state to carry Canadian crude oil.

A pipeline project is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs in Missouri - and generate more than $1 billion in revenue for the state.

Democrat Gov. Jay pushing the best interests of the dinosaur blood industry is a nice twist and makes us realize that the future of the Show-Me State economy is all about recycling ideas from the distant past.

  1. I don't really a big issue with this per se. But as a life-long proud Democrat, I have to wonder: is there any PROGRESSIVE cause Nixon might want to champion?

Maybe AT LEAST raising the tobacco tax to match the average of states surrounding Missouri? You know ... generate revenue while discouraging a fatal habit?

Jay really is neither Democrat nor Republican ... his one and only cause is himself. Wasted opportunity.

I guess that Missouri is now in the business of taking projects that other states turned down for the possibility of irreparable damage to natural resources. Most notably is the environmental damage of roads cut thru forests and possibility of leaks. As a state Missouri prides itself as a model for great outdoor resources and now some lame ass governor wants to ruin that. Maybe instead of crossover barriers we could just run pipelines down the medians of our major highways.

  3. These jobs, like power plants, are misleading. There are jobs while it is being built and then only maintenance work. Once it is built there are actually few jobs. I've worked at the LaCyne power plant for months at time a few times. The plant is huge. However, you will see hardly any actual employees there out and about. Yes, while it was being built there were hundreds of jobs but they are not permanent. Just like the pipeline. Except the pipeline won't take anywhere near as many people to build as a power plant.

  4. I wonder if leaked oil is effective at removing fecal coliform from large bodies of water or streams like say, maybe lakes or streams polluted from pig shit?

If so, then I'm all for it!!

  5. Oil is evil.

Electricity is good. It is magic that happens when you flip the switch.

  6. Oil is a natural resource, not evil. Try to fly air force one on battery power.
