KSHB recently filed this optimistic report: "If voters approve, a special taxing district will come together to support a downtown streetcar system in Kansas City."
Because KC has a LONG HISTORY of nothing but hearing a great many lies from City Hall . . . This vote is despicable because EVENTUALLY all of Kansas City will have to pay for this monstrosity should it come to pass.
Shame on Mayor Sly and the City Council for pushing this through but staying silent on KANSAS CITY'S 2012 HOMICIDE SPIKE for all of this year so far.
Also . . . So-called "transit advocates" need to stay quiet on this because it's not mass transit . . . It's a toy train that goes nowhere and it's part of the "tin cup urbanism" that is bankrupting this town.

I just returned from a City with a street car system...I wish we had one here.

ReplyDeleteDT residents support it, always have, overwhelmingly, in every election. Nothing despicable about democracy.
If you want a "system" you have to pay for it.
The argument will quickly go from "NIMBY" to "why don't we have it in our part of town" just like it has every where else.
ReplyDeleteI know of one large downtown business that is saving their cash for the post election lawsuit. They will never start construction.
