CELEBRATE THE LATEST KCPS SCHEME!!!

Interesting to see school board member Airick West negotiating deals before he knows if he's reelected.

The board will be debating a plan for a three-member panel of advisers who would be appointed by the mayor and sit in on most open and closed board meetings, board President Airick Leonard West told The Star on Tuesday.

So let's see . . .

Will Mayor Sly have time to play Superintendent AND Engineer of the Downtown Toy Train?

The Mayor who can't control the murder rate is going to make Kansas City Public Schools better?

This complicated scheme doesn't seem as simple or effective in making a change as pending Missouri legislation that will dissolve the Board or break up the District.

And none of this is as gully as my dedication to Brit Hottie Alice Goodwin.

DEVELOPING . . .

Once again, he did such a great job raising his son Kyle and we are supposed to trust him with a whole school district full of kids.

  5. More than half of the population which elects the mayor, not just this mayor, does not live in the Kansas City School District so why should they have a democratic say in governing the district?

Especially since most of them moved outside the district because they were too racist to send their kids to school with African American and Latino kids.

Just based on democratic tenets, and not God's justice, why should they have a say? They have the same say that they can logically claim on the schools of Louisville, Kentucky.

  7. If wanting my children properly educated is racist, then so be it. The FAIL of this district is not about race, is about the lack of achievement and lack of interest in the children.
Why? I don't know and I don't care. I only know that my kids were not gonna go there.
So we located in an area that was "too expensive" and "too white", but the kids got what then needed and then some.

  8. 12:15am is right on the money. In fact, money is what the KCPS has always been all and only about.
Millions of dollars paid to unqualified family and friends on the payroll, thousands of contractors who didn't even have to break a sweat to make believe they produced anything, the latest HMM scandal where an insider "advisor" awarded a $32 million contract to a company that he himself had set up just three months earlier...the beat goes on and on.
It's never been about race, except for the folks who demanded to be in charge and it's certainly never been about educating young people.
And in the last election, a total of two people actually filed for four board seats, and those for the same seat!
Way past time to pull the plug, dissolve the district, parcel the schools out to surrounding districts and not condemn yet another generation to failure and despair.
Can't anyone find the courage to stop making believe these little adjustments mean anything?

  9. This makes Airick look sillier and sillier. If he wants a career in politics, he needs some better advisors.
