According to a local group, driving in this part of flyover country isn't as attractive as Denise Milani for African-Americans and Latinos or something . . .
Check this bit local advocacy reported by KSHB:
"The Missouri Unitarian Universalist Advocacy Network shared the findings of a state report focusing on the issue (minority driver during a summit Sunday in Kansas City.
The report found that black and Latino drivers were stopped more than white drivers."
"Driving while Black/Brown" is always a hot button topic and a phenomena that so many white people refuse to believe exists in much the same way I don't know who listens to most country music. Anyhoo . . . TKC SOLUTION: I always make my white lady friends drive and deal with traffic while I text and mess with the car stereo. This plan also involves the double bonus of helping me avoid paying for gas.
Problems solved . . . The more you know!!!
I think if they looked at traffic stops within KCMO they would find white people (especially if they drive a decent auto) stopped at a much higher percentage. These are the ones who will pay their traffic tickets. The KCPD will look the other way at a stolen auto driven by a bunch of gangbangers but give them a chance to write a ticket for 5MPH over to a suburban driver and they will bust their ass to do it.
ReplyDeleteThere must have been almost a dozen people at the meeting of this announcement. And if you spend any time riding with the police, you'll find that most expired plates, temporaray tags, and broken lights are on vehicles woned by minorities. Just a fact.

This could be a false claim as far as the press goes. But I do see behavioral patterns that are influencing such cases.
