  1. This article needs to show me how and why they aren't prepared. Is the city trying to salvage 2011 the roads budget and push it onto the 2012 budget? Did employees have extra vacation time? Did they forget? I need more info before I get upset on this issue.

  2. Too bad Yael never leaves his office. There's an easy hit piece by wandering around 5300 Municipal at 3 in the afternoon. Stop whining about take home cop cars and start digging into the mismanagement of the fleet service managers and operation.

  3. It'll be a clusterfuck this winter just like every other winter in Kansas City history. KC sucks f'rellz.

    ReplyDelete
  4. PS get rid of the "Luxury Tax" take home police cars.

    ReplyDelete
  5. How long would it take to get them into a serviceable condition anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  6. You should be thankful anyone will even come to Detroit on the Missouri, much less work there. Give them all armored=up Bradleys as take-home cars.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Which would your TKC Tipster rather do? Plow snow or get a fat pension?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Tony, you've been had. These are not snow plows. After blowing up the photos and taking a close look, I'm not sure that they could even be converted into a snowplow. Wrong chassis style.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So if the Shitty spent money they don't have buying equipment they aren't using, when they layoff people to balance the budget, who will be driving these shiny new trucks?

    ReplyDelete
  10. 8:35--

For everyone or just the commanders who don't need them?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Detroit on the Missouri.

    Perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Kansas City resources wasted. Same old story.

    ReplyDelete
  13. What are they expected to do? Fill the trucks with sand, turn the ignition on and run the trucks in neutral 24 hours a day all winter waiting for a fucking snowflake?

    ReplyDelete
  14. @9:00AM

Gotta agree with you on this one. Not sure what the point is to this "story." It's not as though there is absolutely no warning/lead time for a looming winter storm. Even our local weather outlets give us some heads up...

  15. Good thing we passed that E-tax.
So we could have a not needed Hotel and Water park.

What Tony neglected to tell you is that the "awesome tipster" took these photos on Christmas Day. Yes, Virginia, even some city employees get time off on Christmas.

And since there's been a grand total of ONE day of accumulated precipitation to date (which melted away within 24 hours), and since we're having unusually warm weather so far, and since the National Weather Service isn't predicting any type of snowfall in the area for at least the next seven days ... oh, why bother. If people were working on the trucks, Tony would piss and moan that the city was wasting money. After all, look at how warm it's been; if the weather is nice and there isn't any forecast for snow, Tony would ask why the city is spending all of that money to get the plows ready.

For his next trick, Tony will take a picture of a river and claim that it's filled with dead bodies, toxic chemicals and radioactive waste. You can't tell by looking it at. You'll just have to take Tony at his word.

  17. I don't get any of this.

  18. No sweat just part of the new public safety plan. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Looks like a bunch of thrucks sitting in Westfall's lot up by World's of Fun.

K.C. always have their trucks decaled and numbered. None of these trucks have that.

These trucks are also painted in Lobloolly Orange. That is the color of Yellow Freight.

More b.s. from the #1 bullshit artist in K.C.

    ReplyDelete
  20. congratulations, Tone---your biggest non-story yet. 9:00 am and Jacalope, above, are right. how is it they're supposed to be used if, in fact, they're trucks for snowplows and THERE'S NO SNOW?

even you should have thought "dumbshit" on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  21. seriously, are you EVER embarrassed?

    ever?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Those trucks need to be prepped NOW.

Why can't KC ever prepare for the future?

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's tough to tell for sure, but to me, it looks like there's a sleeping 'on the clock' city worker in each truck.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I see blue city plates on those and some decals one some other there.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ever truck in those pictores are tractors used to pull semi trailers, they are4 not "dump truck" style chassis.

These tractors are obviously in storage for a transportation company.

And those pictures aren't from a city lot. they are in a private companies storage yard.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It is not suppose to snow for 10+ days and since we know that KCMO doesn't start plowing until the snow reaches 6" and is down for 1 week, the city looks like it is ahead of schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It wouldn't matter if they were ready, there are no drivers. Current administration would rather fund ITD and the call center versus basic service providing departments. Already been told about lay off's in these departments coming soon.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Once again, those aren't city trucks, and those aren't snow plow trucks.

Geez, people. Tony got scammed. Don't be as gullible as he is.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow, apparently there are a lot of city employees who have time to comment on TKC. This post obviously hit a few nerves. Those are indeed city trucks, and they should be outfitted for plows and work. Instead they are in city lot, losing value with every passing day. Does the city even have the staff do drive these trucks?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hopefully they will think and get some of the firefighters to man the plows this year. Or maybe doing things other than sitting in Price Choppers fire lane are against union rules.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah I am sure the fire guys would love to drive the snow plows.... For time and a half

    ReplyDelete
  32. To everyone bashing "take home police cars", be advised that it is now the policy of Chief Fortis that a captain or above respond to all homicide scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  33. During the course of my day today, I drove by the city fleet center which is located at 19th & Brooklyn. None of the vehicles in the pictures were at that location.

I also drove by the KCMO Streets Department Vehicle facility at NE Russell Road and NE Antioch Road, and again, NONE of the vehicles in the pictures were there. In fact, at this locations, trucks had blades and snow/salt dispensers attached to them.

Yes, Tony is trying to fool the readers. But he has a habit of the.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 10:33, too bad you wasted your gas looking at the wrong locations. Try 5300 Municipal next time. That's where these dust-gathering trucks are parked. Tony's not trying to fool anyone. He's just telling it like it is.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 12:29.

I work at Fed Ex off of Front Street.

I drove by "5300 Municipal" at 0100 this morning after my shift.

Guess what? Those trucks did NOT exist at 5300 Municipal this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have no idea what these trucks are, but I know what they are NOT --- snow plows.

You would think by now Tony would have learned some Journalism 101 and picked up the phone to make one call, possibly two, to find out more about these trucks, where they were, and what they were doing there.

Remember folks, this is the same guy who a couple of weeks ago, castigated Sly James for not ordering the entire fleet of snow plows out to clear a 1/4-inch snowfall that melted before noon.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 12:29, OF COURSE 10:33 went to the "wrong location." He actually went to the place where the city's fleet of snow removal trucks were actually parked, outfitted and ready to go.

Kinda ruined Tony's fairy tale, didn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey 12:29, I ALSO drove by the 5300 Municipal address on my way to work at 11:00 am this morning (I work at NKC Hospital).

And guess what?! NONE of those trucks pictured were there.

As a previous poster put it, Tony is duping us.

    ReplyDelete
  39. what do you expect from him anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  40. We expect lies from City employees.

    From TKC I expect boobs.
