Local Latina Teen Boxing Sensation Raina Esparza Killed in Tragic I-35 Crash

A bit of tragic news that's certainly worth remembering this evening:

KMBC reports: The Kansas Highway Patrol said 15-year-old Raina Esparza was killed in a crash on southbound Interstate 35 at Antioch Road early Tuesday morning. According to the report she was a talented teen boxer with a growing number of fans.

The last line of the story reports a connection in KC proper for the Shawnee Mission Student: "Friends and family members gathered at Holy Name Church on Southwest Boulevard to pray for Raina and her family."

Do you have to work at it to hate people like that? Or does it just come naturally to you?

  7. I agree with the SHAME ON YOU. She was a 15 year old girl and if you don't like where you live then you can move. That's your freedom. Condolences to the family. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

  9. If this had been a white girl Tony's headline would have been... "KC Media Overhyped Death of Girl Boxer"

  10. Instead of the stupid assed racist remarks why not say something about how KC seems to lose a lot of sports talent in auto accidents because they do not wear seat belts.

  12. It's very sad how some people don't respect a challenging time in people's life....I knew Raina and her family personally and they are very great people...God and their kid's come first. That morning Raina was reading her bible on the way to work, for some reason she didn't buckle up..I sometimes make that mistake, but now it's a mistake we can't take back but move on and learn from this tragedy.
