TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY'S REV. MICHAEL BROOKS WANTS TO RUN IN THE 5TH DISTRICT FOR THE CITY COUNCIL!!!

It seems that Rev. Michael Brooks has finally settled on the location of his election bid.

There was a lot of talk that the politically active Rev. was going to run At-Large but the In-District race in the 5th is probably more suited to his grassroots organizing experience.

Remember, that In-District races can still be won on "shoe leather" and it's nice to see yet another small campaign participate in the process.

Check the fund-raising and campaign platform note after the jump:

MICHAEL BROOKS FOR CITY COUNCIL 5TH DISTRICT

Friends,

I am delighted to announce my candidacy for the 5th District City Council seat in the upcoming February 22, 2011 Primary Election!

You are cordially invited to my “kick‐off” fundraiser which will be held Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Gates Bar‐B‐Q Restaurant 1325 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. Please join me in an open and candid conversation about the needs of our community – specifically the needs of the 5th District.

I am a Kansas City native and have dedicated the past 12 years to advocating change for Kansas City and its citizens. As a member of the City Council, I plan to work with my fellow colleagues to continue my efforts to create an environment at City Hall that we can all be proud of. Although representing the 5th District will be my priority, I believe we need to focus on Kansas City as a whole. My plan includes:

•Economic Development
•Employment
•Education
•Transportation

I believe that improving the quality of life for all Kansas City residents is a very attainable goal if we have the right people and voices in place.

Please join me in advocating change for our community. Help me continue to be a voice for our community by attending. Once again, the event will be held:

Thursday, October 14, 2010
6‐8 PM
Gates Bar‐B‐Q Restaurant
1325 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd
Pastor Michael E. Brooks, Candidate
5th District (In District)

Old news he has held 3 kick offs for his campaign. No. Support his Concerned Clergy is down to maybe 3 ministers with under 10 members in their own church's. gone are the former founders and ministers don't support Brooks. Brooks is not known outside in the community as being visible supporter of 5th district residents. Anyone can right a nice platform the proof is in the deliverance. Now bring on Kenneth Bachus !
