TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY POLITICAL INSIDERS WANT MAST PENSION MONEY TAKEN OUT OF FIRE DEPT. BUDGET!!!

There's an interesting idea circulating around Kansas City political circles and I think it's exceptionally apropos in the midst of this Great Recession.
KANSAS CITY POLITICAL INSIDERS SUGGEST THAT THE MONEY FOR MAST PENSIONS SHOULD COME OUT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET!!!
It makes sense.
Given that the MAST HOSTILE TAKEOVER was initiated by the leaders of the KCFD it's only logical that they should take on the financial burden which they promised wouldn't be so much because of a "savings" that was supposed to come about because of the merger that has yet to materialize.
KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS CITE WASTE IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT LIKE THE USE OF "DRIVERS" FOR MANAGEMENT THAT COULD BE USED TO AT LEAST PARTIALLY FUND THE MAST PENSIONS PROMISED!!!
To be fair, after some excruciating research (i.e. Google) I found that the KCPD Driver/Chauffeur gig isn't completely bunk.
"Kansas City Fire Department is the only place in the metro that uses a driver. This position is a captain and they are titled as the District Safety Officer and fill in when the Battalion is gone(7 battalions and 1 Deputy). They fill in as a safety officer on all working incidents with multiple companies. This fulfills the requirement of NFPA 1710 as the battalion remains in command. And on a side note KCFD is the only department in the metro that is 1710 compliant thanks to their citizens and Chief "Smokey" Dyer. The DSO also does alot of admin duties but unfortunately I only work off duty with some KCFD guys and never really ask them what they do in the offices."
Nevertheless, in this age of austerity when local government is being scaled back all across the Western World, it's only fair that the KCPD share some of the burden that their political adventures helped to create.
As I noted previously, look for this idea to pick up steam as Kansas City attempts to deal with a poorly thought political maneuver for which there is no money to pay.
Developing . . .
Not gonna happen my friend.
ReplyDeleteTake the money quick - or else Louie and Sherwood will take it and give it to Henry Rizzo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a mess!
ReplyDeleteProbably the only chauffers in KC who make 75K.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is the Mayor and City Council created this mess. They all must go.
ReplyDeleteHow many Deputy Chiefs are there and what do they do? Maybe local 42pension fund can absorb mast retirement.
ReplyDeleteHey I'm a lawyer. I deserve to have my $100,000 salary. (wierd Louie Mumble) What I was saying was if you take $40 mill away from our budget, I won't have the money to pay Pat Gray. Honestly, I'm worried. If I don't pay him, he may end up falling off the wagon in a bar again. $40 million is a lot. If I lose $40 million I won't be able to pay Sherwood to funnel all that money to Henry. Don't get me wrong I truly care about pensions. But $40 million out of my budget?
ReplyDeleteWoah! Woah! Taking $40 million away from our budget would lead to me losing my job. That is why I can't let this happen. I truly care about pensions though. In this case I think I'm going to argue it is anti-worker to take my job away. Where is Henry when we need him? Oh wait, he's not on the council.
ReplyDeleteDoes every fire district need THREE drivers? Can't we be compliant with less than 24 drivers... have them stationed out of fire headquarters? Knock that number down to SIX.
ReplyDeleteMake MAST their own City Department. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteMAST a stand alone department in the city structure? Simplicity it's self. Problem solved!
ReplyDeleteevery station house as someone who drives the captain around. Consider also that the average firefighter works a total of 9 or 10 days per month. Work includes sitting on their ass playing video games on big screen tv, surfing the web on free wifi, sleeping, grocery shopping, and basically not doing shit. God forbid anyone should critique these "heroes". 55-75 k average salary, free medical, full pension after 25 years. Nice scam, er, work. If you can get it. Spare me the flaming building hero bs. Truck drivers, butchers and roofers have more dangerous jobs.
ReplyDeletefirefighters are the most over valued people in the world.
ReplyDeleteMORE COPS! people shoot at them.
ReplyDeleteI mean, there are people that shoot at them and so they deserve more money.
ReplyDeleteDon't need more cops. They sit on the fat ass reading the KC Star every morning for about 3 hours.
ReplyDeleteWhat KC needs is more taxpayers. Unfortunately they have been fleeing the city for 50 years.
