TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! MAYOR FUNKY'S CAREER OUTSIDE OF POLITICS CONCERNS KANSAS CITY!!!

More than a year ago AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS reported on Mayor Funky's second job. Well informed readers of this blog were also the first to lament the Mayor's speaking business.

Details from The KC Blue Blog are also troubling. Apparently Mayor Funky has "A minimum of $5000 to $7500 plus travel expenses in order to hear him speak.

The contract on his website also charges a flat fee of $500 for meals and lodging.
"

Now as the election nears the clamoring over Mayor Funky's side gigs has increased so much so that he's answering questions about it to Star reporter Lynn Horsley in between her naps.

Question:

DURING THIS GREAT RECESSION, DOES KANSAS CITY NEED A MAYOR WHO ONLY WANTS TO WORK PART TIME?!?!

It gets worse . . . The fact that Kansas City's Mayor is ducking a summons is probably going to be raised as a political point.

It just doesn't look right.

Legal people that are kind enough to talk to TKC tell me that until The Mayor accepts service the case can't start depos or any of the proceedings. He's literally holding up the law. Then again, my other friends in contact with the courts (not because they want to be) also note that if he refuses service after a certain number of tries, it is considered accepted.

A great many people say The Shawn Pierce case might be total bunk. But NOBODY likes the Mayor seemingly in hiding.

Sadly, in the end, this might be another time consuming and expensive case for Mayor Funky that stems from his inability to separate his wife from his professional endeavors . . . And the fact that she's back at City Hall makes this situation even more odious.

If they can't serve you they can send it certified mail/return receipt. If that is returned undeliverable the court can render a judgement in favor of the plaintiff.

    Almost happened to me.

  4. Tony, I already told you this. The County is playing with him and playing you. They want to serve him in a public meeting.

Don't worry. TV news will be there.

  11. I heard him(and saw him speak the other day, and was very upset by him. He has a Ph.D.? He might want to study grammar and logic a bit more. What an embarrassment.

  15. So we give some of the Council members a hard time for NOT having a day job and we give the Mayor a hard time for splitting his time? It is a weak Mayor form of government.

  16. Doesn't sound like he has another job if by his own account he hasn't had a speaking engagement in months. Not much of a company. Hope he is updating his resume. Maybe he can start a PTA circuit paid gig.

  17. Maybe he can start as a freak in the Shriner's Circus?

  21. Ive heard him speak and its not inspiring. He reference's books he's read and people he's met but his public presence is pathetic. For someone with his educational back ground his grammar is terrible.Gloria wants to talk about po-dunk. I hope Funk has other options because his future doesnt look good.

  23. Is he charging KC based businesses and organizations to hear an update about Kansas City? Is he using city staff for this?

  25. Couldn't the Council, if they wanted, pass an ordinance limiting the Mayor's opportunities for secondary employment?

Depositions in a lawsuit might shed some light on the funk'd's home front.
    Tammy? WTF?
And the reason behind the 2004 blow up in the funk'd household.
    Tammy?
I sure would like to have his bank account subpoenaed. Payments to whom for how much?
    Tammy?
And just what devious devices keep the pet in charge?
    Tammy? And .....

A nice start for your day, pet?

  28. Looked up casenet records for Cleaver and Barnes. Sure they got sued, a lot, but I could not find one lawsuit stating that either Barnes or Cleaver REFUSED service.
Clay Chastain's suits accepted service? Yes they signed.
Glorioso suing everybody back in 1995, yes they accepted service. So many lawsuits and I could not find one that our previous Mayors dodged.

  29. Who is responsible for serving those papers?

    ReplyDelete
  30. What's wrong with not having a day job?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Is the Mayor using his taxpayer staff at events in which he is charging to speak? That is a very important question.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If The Funk is accepting any public appearance anywhere and announcing he is the Mayor of KC MO we should all be outraged. I think we have had enough embarrassing national coverage.Dont you think?

    ReplyDelete
  33. He has every right to have a side gig as long as he's not spending tax payer dollars to support it. Look at other Mayors such as Bloomberg, etc. They all have this kind of stuff going on. The difference is they do it competently and are able to pull it off and they get reelected. Obviously, Funk can't pull it off and will not be reelected. No use is complaining about it. All we can do is bide our time.

This is a magnificent Deer Caught in the Headlights photograph of the Feckless Funk! The picture does a great job bringing out his Clueless Baboon side. One wonders if this is the image he sees when he looks in the mirror? Probably not... certainly this would not be the photograph of the Smartest Guy in the Room... or any room but the Rubber Room in the Kook Box.

  35. Is there something illegal about Funk earning money on the side? Is he using taxpayer dollars during the trip? Travel and lodging expenses? Are his staffers going on the trips with him? Is he reimbursing the cities for any time used to travel and speak for these events? Is he doing city business and double dipping? Funk needs to answer these questions and show all of the paperwork for all expenditures during these trips.

  36. He looks like he might eat raw meat.

  37. the votes for Funk came from the same ignorant fucks who voted for Reagan and the Bushes.
