According to recent campaign finance reports, we all know the Mayor doesn't have much money to spare. What's worse is that a public official walking around with hat in hand is a rather depressing site.
To wit, KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS REPORT MAYOR FUNKY'S ADMINISTRATION IS LOOKING TO MAKE FAST FRIENDS WITH ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC!!! . . . The mayor's office is busy calling organizations and asking them to host him for public forums. This tactic makes it obvious that The "Schools First" teleconference today is mostly a political stunt featuring canned answers.
City Hall insiders are speculating that he's asking local non-profit and charitable groups to essentially start his campaign for him in one of the sleazy uses of The Mayor's office Kansas City has ever seen.

ReplyDeleteThe best way to defeat this is to go the public forums and tell the Mayor that this School's First proposal is just a phony campaign stunt. Last week on Ruckus everyone agreed that this was a sham. The Mayor is holding one of his forum's Wednesday 6:30 at 99th Holmes at the Trailside Center.
ReplyDeleteIt is unconscionable of him to spend $20,000-plus for this tele-conference. the money can bet better spent problems...like icy, snowy streets, fixing potholes, repairing all the traffic signs knocked down by snowplows, streetlights knocked over by car wrecks....etc.

The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the forum at 99th Holmes. They want the city build that 1,000 room hotel. You know the are against socialism.

FACT is that there is a someone lining up locations and hosts for the Mayor's Town Hall meetings but there is no price attached to hosting the event. Why wouldn't an organization want to get involved and ask some important questions of their elected official? Oh wait, it is just easier to bitch about something on a blog rather than get involved. Since when is asking questions at a public form an endorsement for a candidate? Same rational that Tony used to bash the Waldo residents for getting involved in protecting their neighborhood.
