This morning, The Missouri Record has some MAJOR QUESTIONS for Kansas City's State Rep. Jason Kander. Reconciling the namesake of an award he's been nominated for with his progressive principles could prove to be a major stumbling block.
Now comes Jason Kander, a Washington, DC educated attorney who hews closely to the left's agenda and "progressive values." Kander supports codifying same-sex marriage and considers abortion-on-demand a civil right.Actually, I'm quite interested in how the young elected official will respond to the SERIOUS CHALLENGE. In his career thus far, Kander has made impressive strides by champion issues that both sides of the aisle endorse like support for Veterans and ethics reform. In this instance, Jason Kander is being asked to choose between the beliefs he professes and award named after a staunch opponent some of his guiding political principles.
Will Kander stand on those principles and decline to be considered for an award named to honor a southern segregationist? For someone so consumed with avoiding the appearance of impropriety, what could be more improper than honoring the chief defender of segregation in the United States Congress?
Real talk: I'm going to enjoy seeing Kander tap dance or play hide and seek regarding the question of his level of commitment to the progressive party line.
Kander will take the award. He shares many of the same retrograde opinions that Strom Thurmond held.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason Kander pretends to be a Democrat is that he wanted to run from a safe seat in an urban area. Let us remember that Strom started out as a Democrat but left the Party over his opposition to civil rights for all people.
Thurmond is Kander's kind of guy.
I don't believe that Kander supports anything related to Strom but it's not a political award. It's a military one.
ReplyDeleteTony these concerns were raised in comments on your blog last night before the Missouri Record post.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Kander so unwilling to tell voters what he really did in Afghanistan? Was he involved in torture? He did admit in a radio interview that he almost shot a kid from a truck.
ReplyDelete09:10:00 AM is correct Tony.
ReplyDeleteThe same issue was raised last night. However I think because the Mo Record post didn't include the f-bomb and all caps then they might be taken more seriously. Just sayin'
Kander loves to play the progressive and then play nice with the Republicans like Will Krause.
ReplyDeleteI do not think there is any question that Kander was involved in interrogations that the United States cannot be proud of in Afghanistan.
He should stand up and do the right thing and withdrawal from consideration for this award.
I have known Kander for a few years, and this guy has always been a bit scary. He is the prottype "do and say whatever it takes" politician. I even remeber him discussing with a small group about switching to the republican party if the political winds ever changed. This guy is blind ambition defined.
ReplyDeleteIf you're scared of Jason Kander, you probably have a reason to be scared, which is most unfortunate for you. I personally have no fear of Jason Kander, only the hope that he will remain close to Missouri, and, Kansas City politics.
ReplyDeleteKander and his wife will do whatever it takes to get to the top of the heap. They are both competative and agressive about their ambitions, just don't get in their way.
ReplyDeleteJason is not all that bad. Remember that, because we know where everyone lives, and Jason showed me some neat tricks that he learned before Obama went namby-pamby.
