Increasing Kansas City, Missouri School District Violence Unites Teachers

WDAF reports that "a group of Kansas City, Missouri, school teachers say they aren't going to wait for the district or anybody else to solve their problems and are taking a proactive approach to school safety.

The informal group of teachers and district staffers met on Tuesday evening to discuss the problems and how to fix them."

No word on rumors that the gathering of teachers uniting against recent school violence took place while they were cowering in fear underneath a desk.

  3. I'm a new teacher to the district, and I've never seen anything like it. My principal refuses to discipline students, and instead tells teachers that we need to find ways to handle problems ourselves. Every day I'm cursed at, mocked, and forced to deal with students who refuse to come to class, do nothing but talk when they're there, and often walk out when they feel like it.

I'd like to see news outlets or blogs like this start asking school officials why the Student Code of Conduct is not enforced, or at least get them to say something about it. It's a great document which would provide the necessary structure if only enforced by lazy principals.
