Puck Enthusiastically Cleans Up Mayoral Candidate Mike Burke Misstatements

TKC Note: Puck is a recent contributor to TKC and one of the many awesome and well informed TKC Tipsters. We're grateful to have this amazingly well-written perspective and happy to see yet another Kansas City political watcher paying attention to detail and keeping a Mayoral Candidate on his toes.

Confounding Candidate Claims!

Our little Puck had his ear to the AM dial and heard mayoral hot mess Mike Burke taking to the airwaves, making miraculous claims of accomplishments, while ignobly ignoring his more obvious deeds. To wit… Burke brushed up next to Shanin and Parks Thursday evening, during which time he claimed to have raised big bucks for the Kansas City Museum. This confounded our puny prankster because there’s no evidence (attorney lingo for proof) that Burke minted any money for the Museum… unless you count time serving on PIAC when the funding was allocated. The credit for the aforementioned funding (more legalese for money) belongs to the council people who served at the time.

Burke does excel at exhuming dollars for another institution… the one known as King Hershey Law Firm. As legal counsel to the Port Authority, a position his firm still holds, Burke has horned in on hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees… and continues to do so. Burke’s other city-tied legal gig… as counsel to the Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority, garners him even more green. Great gigs if you are politically connected enough to get them.

No one denies Burke loves Kansas City. It’s just a bonus when love is so lucrative.

  1. Pat O'Neill is running Burke's campaign, so we can expect a lot of this.

Pat is not married to the facts.

  4. He screwed up the Linwood Blvd. Apartment houses. Did not have a clue about how to structure section 8 agreements so that the building doesn't become a battleground for "boyfriends" and a place that children are not safe. He did it for the "dee-veloper"

  5. He really screwed up Renaissance North, where the City is covering over $12,000,000 in debt for his bankrupt developer client.
