Seriously . . . Are thing so desperate at KC Schools that beating people is the only option? And there are other implications of this headline from the "paper-of-record" that I don't even want to get into other than to note that it makes the corporate rag look even more clueless.

You are reaching with this one Tony...
ReplyDeleteI hope Lewis I. Diguid is as offended by this poor choice of headlines for his article ("whipping") as he was over "Eenie, meanie, miney, moe" on the Boulevard beer billboard.
ReplyDeleteWeren't slaves whipped when they weren't subservient enough?
I also Mr. Lewis I. Diuguid has the cojones to take on Marilyn Simmons and the other pompous do-nothings in the KCMO district. I hope he has the courage to stand up to this Muscle Milk-drinking new superintendent with a very thin resume and demand accountability from him from the start and not make excuses for him because he is black.
The district has been failing children for 40 years, and this town and its media have negligently looked the other way.
Relax, Tony. It's just a figure of speech. There are lots of important issues out there to get seriously hot and bothered about, but not the wording of this headline.
ReplyDeleteHey, Tony. How about we solve the KCSD problem once and for all. I propose that we continue the process started by Independence, MO and divvy up the district between all the surrounding school districts.
ReplyDelete1.It would save a LOT OF MONEY by eliminating the KCSD administrative overhead. (Think lower property taxes, folks!)
2. It would put the students into districts that are accredited.
3. Raytown SD, Hickman Mills SD, NKC SD, Independence SD, Center SD, etc. could absorb the additional students into their better programs. If necessary, some of the "outlying" SDs could participate in the divvying up of KCSD.
4. The city's reputation would improve DRAMATICALLY.
How did Independence get it on the ballot to take over the schoold they got last year? How do we get this into motion?
tony, no man has ever used the word "insensitive."
ReplyDeleteIndependence wanted the schools because they were in decent areas. No way Raytown or Hickman Mills wants any part of the KC School District kids.
ReplyDeletePut them in chains before the whipping starts.
ReplyDelete3:11 - Van Horn HS in a decent area? Are you kiddin' me? it's a shithole.
