Show Me Drunken Consequences

A new Missouri state law takes effect Wednesday that requires people with two or more drunk-driving convictions to install ignition interlock devices on their vehicles for six months in order to get their license back.

For the uninitiated, an ignition interlock device is "like a breathalyzer, installed to a motor vehicle's dashboard. Before the vehicle's motor can be started, the driver first must exhale into the device, if the resultant breath-alcohol concentration analyzed result is greater than the programed blood alcohol concentration — the motor will not turn over."

Finally, the implementation of this new law proves once again that too many drunken nights always result in a lot of regret along with undesirable blowing.

  2. it's an idea, but what's to stop a well-meaning, but stupid friend from blowing in it for the drunk? Seems like someone wouldn't do that for a friend who's had too much to drink, but you never know. Not all drunks really seem drunk even when they are too impaired to drive. someone might talk a friend into blowing in it for them.

My opinion is that drunk drivers should be given bikes. Even in the dead of winter. No matter how far from work they live. My birth father was killed by a drunk driver and I can tell you first hand the devastation they cause to a family.

  3. A DWI conviction doesn't really mean anything anymore. Years ago the magic boxes had to print out a 0.15 BAC in order for someone to qualify as too intoxicated to drive. Now it is 0.08 thanks to MADD and they want to take it even lower.

It only takes the smallest bit of evidence to charge someone with DWI and you're basically guilty until proven innocent.

Yeah like that night you traded a BJ for an ounce of credibility.
I regret that deal, you got a lazy tongue.

  5. Take a balloon. Blow it up before you drink. Tie the nozzle. Leave balloon in car.

After drinking untie nozzle (if you're not too drunk). Put nozzle up to mouthpiece on device. Let said balloon release air into mouthpiece. Insert key into ignition. Start car.

    - You not only have to blow into it to start the car, but continue to blow into it while you drive.
