NO SMOKING IN KANSAS CITY UPHELD!!!

The Missouri Court of Appeals upholds Kansas City's smoking ban. And there's a little less freedom in this town, especially when it comes to giving servers cancer.

  1. Late term abortions; cool.

Illegally crossing the Canadian and "various other" borders for free health care; understandable.

Smoking in a bar; No you di'n't!

  2. lame. I don't want to make a federal case to smoke but waitresses can find other jobs. This legislation has killed the restaurant industry as well.

  3. Better tell the President who admitted the other day that he still smokes the occasional cigarette.

  5. What if the governments mandated that all currently smoke-free hospitality venues MUST provide a smoking section to accommodate smokers, against the wishes of business owners who choose
to go smoke-free of their own free will?

That wouldn't be fair, would it?
Neither are government mandated smoking bans.

  6. Since when do business owners get to decide which health standards they choose to follow? Are you telling me as a restaurant/bar owner you're in violation of health code standards?

  7. But wait--Hearne Christopher assured us in several blog posts that this law would be overturned. Maybe he didn't go to law school, but I'm sure his life experience has provided him the equivalent of a law degree.
Please, Hearne, let us know the legal deficiencies of the appeals court decision. Or I guess you could just post the unfiltered biased views of the pro-smoking attorney whose ass you have crawled up.
