The Waiting is the Hardest Part

The final word on the Funky Recall signature verification won't come down until tomorrow. Until that time, everything folks are saying -- Especially the Mayor -- is nothing but bluster.
Officials told KMBC's Micheal Mahoney said that they expect to turn in the results of the signatures at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Since mid-March, recall organizers have been trying to collect 16,950 signatures of registered Kansas City voters -- that is the number needed to force a recall election.

Originally, the group had 7,459 valid names. Then, they got an additional 175 names from the Kansas City portion of Clay County and 56 names from Platte County, making a total of 7,690.

The group turned in another 13,000 signatures on Monday -- those are the names being verified by election workers.

The group needs 9,260 of those names to be valid to reach its goal.
The interesting part here is that so many dimwits didn't expect anything at all from this group and they came with bigger numbers than anybody anticipated. Sadly, even thousands of people wanting him out of office was not enough for The Mayor to even acknowledge the merit of the complaints coming from his critics - Which includes most of the City according to horrible Citizen Satisfaction numbers related to politicos.

Still . . . Mayor Funky stubbornly moves forward with his wife refusing to and tries to make up for his failed style of management and incompetence with equally embarrassing sound byte bravado. Emanuel Cleaver, Kay Barnes had to talk with people and had to at least keep their benefactors happy . . . Mayor Funky and his wife are content to rule as King and Queen taking advice from no one and ending up ultimately frustrated and embarrassed when their dictates are ignored. This Kansas City disaster could come to an end tomorrow . . . Or drag on for many more months. For now we wait . . . And maybe check out a NSFW photo gallery of Natasha Mealey in the meantime.

  1. from my own blog....

I don't much care whether the Funk stays or goes, but clearly Tony's bet his rep on that the Funk needs to go. (The blogger, TKC, and the mayor's "enemies" whoever they might be.

My view's always been that a RECALL needs to be about something outrageously unjust. Sorry, but Gloria's feet (just at TKC preoccupation) just don't stink that bad. Non-news!

Kansas City voted for a left brainer. Why recall a guy because he's an anti-social accountant? We didn't vote for paZAZZ. We voted for an accountant! We got what we voted for!

Like the presidency, if you think you made a mistake, you should have enough respect for the electorate to let a winner serve out his/her term. The GOP didn't do that with Clinton but he prevailed anyway!

I'm of the same view with this KC mayor. I haven't read anything to suggest that he has malpracticed enough to be recalled. Yet like the GOP, there are always those who want to flex their muscles. Like YOU Tony.

I'd let him finish his term, endure it and if that wasn't the right direction, then the voters will have learned a lesson. But he hasn't run KC into the ground enough to recall him.

Sorry, I just don't see it. But again, I haven't put my rep on this race!

So explain to me, TKC, or anyone else, what has this electorate's choice (that'd be THIS MAYOR) done so ineptly to reverse the voters' decision? What did he do so badly that we need to vote AGAIN now, TO REMOVE HIM and reverse our decision-- rather than wait until election day to hopefully find someone more to our liking now?

Sorry, but I think voters should endure the results of their votes...and only in the MOST PAINFUL and IMPOSSIBLE situation, should they exercise a "RECALL."

It's not like he's declared war on Lenexa or run KC's budget into the ground. So what the hell IS it that has your nose so out of joint?

  2. Tony, any chance that either Barnes or Sanders would run? I could support either of them.

Radioman, the voters have already learned their lesson. What that lesson is exactly, you, Tony and I don't know but the bad taste in the mouths of the Orange Revolution voters is lesson enough. And we all know what to do when one gets a bad taste in one's mouth... gargle with salt water and SPIT IT OUT. Cleansing is helpful when trying to GET RID of a bad taste in one's mouth... don't you agree?

Tony's "rep" is already made RM... he wants the Funk gone because he really is, at the end of the day, a solid citizen who wants what's right for Kansas City. Everyone thought that the Funk would bring a new broom and sweep things clean... didn't happen.

And now it's time to end this Municipal Nightmare. I hope the recall folks gathered enough signatures and we are done with this pathetic loser and his even more gruesome and putrid wife.

Long live the Orange Revolution, the Orange Revolution is dead!!!

  5. Radiohead, the only muscle Tony really cares enough about to flex is his love muscle. And, heaven forbid, that muscle has absolutely nothing to do with either Funkhouser.

    --------------------

He's been working on it Radio Guy... or not working on it. The Light Rail Initiative would have been fiscally disastrous... might have even driven the City into bankruptcy. As to his involvement in all other things fiscal, the Funk has consistently been ill-prepared, busy setting up his personal business office in Johnson County or making as little a mark on the debate so as to render himself not only useless but almost unnoticed.

  8. Sanders does not live in KC, so we cannot have him.

The Bone Head should have moved in town years ago.

  9. Radio man stop spamming your fucking blog.

  10. This is all bullshit. He won the election and you fucking people have not let him do the job. Blame yourself for the government you deserve. Get rid of the City Council and the School Board. That's who needs to go.

  11. Andrew, quit hitting the pipe so late dude.

  12. That can't be Andrew. He spelled 'bullshit' correctly and didn't make any reference to being so pissed off he was going out to suck some dick.

  13. Funk was cooked when his operatives realized that they could not accept comments on his blog -- he had lost public support.

The sicko has been coasting ever since.
