Joyce Smith from KC's Dollars & Sense blog: Downtown's Majestic Steakhouse Temporarily Closed!!!

So . . . How's that "Renaissance" coming?

Also Bar Refaeli photos . . . As a nightcap of sorts.

  1. Oh Tony...be more optomistic. Getting several thousand more people into DT every week will soldify the P&L and restore opputunity for the locals. Finally the City Council has something right. Backing the Hotel is a huge step in the right direction.

  2. love that face shot on wikipedia... but the links took me to a fabulous site about jeans...great pix there, just not quite big enough or my screensaver collection.

great style there, great models. was tony talking about city hall again, I didn't notice.

btw tony, I know you don't link to my site because I don't run local bullshit... but Mancow getting waterboarded was GREAT RADIO. Yup, I'll spam myself since you wont. check out this video as Mancow discovers in 6 seconds that waterboarding is torture.

Lets send Cheney overseas for his war crimes trial. Enjoy WLS CHicago/mancow's self promoting but telling video:

PS, I'm so disappointed in you Tony...you play clique games. I would have thought better of you.

  3. Make bloggers pay for the internet, its only fair.

  4. I think you have this wrong. If anyone should pay for the internet, it shouldn't be US who PUT stuff on the internet for you to read, it should be YOU WHO READ IT.

How many people think everything they browse should be FREE to them? Hell. People pay their Time Warner bill... and so they think they've paid their fifty bucks, everything that we who create things for you to look at should work for FREE? That you've paid ENOUGH already? Well guess what? Your payment was just for ACCESS to us.

I have a choice. Make you PAY for my advice and knowledge or give what I know to you for free. Hmm. What to do?

Shouldn't you PAY ME to contribute to your knowledge just like teachers do? They don't teach you what they know for free! They make your parents pay their salaries through their school taxes!

If anything, you should be paying ME to entertain you tonight, to teach you with MY ideas. Why should I give away what I know?
I HOPE THAT BRINGS AN EPIPHANY TO YOU!

The fact is, most of us who contribute our time, our intellect, our knowledge our original writing to the Internet do so as a PUBLIC SERVICE!

Don't be asking US TO PAY, nitwit! Thank us for giving you something to enjoy. What you pay your Internet provider doesn't make it to ME!

I give you my ideas for FREE, my contribution to the world's body of knowledge. True dat, my ideas might not be WORTH paying for, but hey.

You didn't have to pay for my ideas.

What really amazes me is how much useful information that I SHOULD PROBABLY PAY FOR, is available FREE out of so many people's generosity.
    rman sed it.

  5. the P&L does one thing well...attracts dollars that dont go into city coffers (TIF) while hurting and closing non TIF'd businesses and thus...the city collects less tax revenue. The guaranteeing of the bonds is the real tragedy...creating a lose/lose deal for the city. If they come, the city collects less tax dollars...if they dont come, the city pays out on the bonds.

Wayne screwed us big time and yet he still has a job. Things are messed up for sure.

  7. Yeah reyrey, the big bad P&L. That part of the city was so vibrant and people just LOVED spending their money there before they put the entertainment district in.
Come back when you have a mature adult thought in your empty head.

  8. anom 4:24, its obvious youre not too bright so let me soon feed you. Whether people previously spent money in the 6 blocks now called the P&L is irrelevant. The money now being spent there does not go into the city tax coffers and the people there are hurting either KCMO businesses that actually pay tax into city coffers.

Since you cannot comprehend this I will assume that you are either:

    a. on leave from boys town
    b. mentally challenged

Either way good luck in life...you will need it.

  9. Thanks so much reyrey for the lesson on "soon" feeding. I think I'll stick with the school of supply and demand. H&R Block, that big green building with all the...wait for it... employees wouldn't have come downtown without guarantees that it wasn't going to be a ghost town. All those employees pay KCMO taxes. All those employees buy goods and products downtown. All those employees working in all the places in P&L pay taxes. Revenue from parking (city owned) kick in more. As more places open, more developers look to actually either build or renovate. The Performing Arts Center will spur more development, draw more people spending money on parking, food and goods. As for KCMO businesses losing business to P&L, it's competition and if they can't handle it then they aren't contributing that much to begin with. And yeah, I'd rather shop at a real grocery store than at some nasty ass drug store so if the drug store dies then it deserves to die for treating KCMO residents like scum.

reyrey, I'm sorry but the Goldmine is gone and it's never coming back so I suggest you go look for your brand of "entertainment" or perhaps employment elsewhere.

  10. H&R Block was already in KCMO spending money in non-TIF'd places.

Through the years I have learned you cannot educate the idiots. Over $3million last year to cover P&L bonds.

  11. you won't find an independent real estate or finance person that thinks the P&L is a winner for the city.

  12. The city will never understand real estate. I remember right after an important development date was met for the Performing Arts Center and the Council was trying to lure Waddel and Reed to relocate there. Eddy's exact quote was "This are will see a rebirth and become a demand center to developers. Thus we need to get these incentives to Waddel and Reed."

  13. You won't reyrey, because you're a failure. That's ok, we'll just move ahead without you. Have fun living in your broken down world.

  14. Bloch never considered moving outside of KCMO (the other option was to expand at 43rd and main) yet the received $200 million to move 3 miles. That is a winner
