Here's just a bit of a TKC EXCLUSIVE (!!!) that anyone can confirm by simple observation . . . A crime wave in Northeast is taking a serious toll on the businesses in that area . . . From the bodegas frequented by illegal immigrants to the Walgreen's . . . There are very few places that stay open after sundown. The rule of the day in that neighborhood since the weather warmed up has been:
Open Late, Close Early
The demographics of gun toting of criminals striking fear though the area have been diverse and I don't want to help racists in their misguided accusations . . . What I will note is this is a problem related to police cuts and fewer cops on the streets and not any other verifiable trend.
Once again, failure on Kansas City's part to provide adequate security is helping to bring down the economy of an entire neighborhood . . . While the Mayor fights about his wife.
Hey T I thought the Northeast was a womderland that should not be cleaned up? You were shooting off your mouth last week along those lines.
ReplyDeleteRemember? Let the criminals go because trying to crack down on them is racist. T said so.
The police have told residents who asked for increased patrols it would be too dangerous for the police. I'll type that again... TOO DANGEROUS FOR THE POLICE!
ReplyDeleteThere are 23 languages spoken at the high school.
Northeast has been shit on since Illus Davis decided to punish everyone who lived there for Tom Pendergast's corruption.
Well at leas ol' Tom and his boys would get you a load of coal and some groceries if you needed them.
Where have you gone Kendall Korr???
It actually predates Ilus Davis and goes back to John Gage and his successor William Kemp. It was under the direction of these two mayors that:
ReplyDelete1.) The route for the 6th street trafficway leading to the planned Paseo Bridge, bisecting the politically strong 1st Ward.
2.) "Temporary" housing projects were erected along Independence Avenue, (Chouteau Heights) at 3rd & Troost (Guinotte Manor) and Highland & Missouri. (Riverview Heights)
These moves literally crippled the neighborhood and foretold the next 60 years of back sliding for Northeast.
Throw in a few cataclysmic events in the 80's (Osteopathic Hospital closing, Wards closing, busing) and you begin to get the picture.
Despite this, Northeast residents fight back against the scourge that comes with absentee landlords, an ineffective city government that can't seem to find, much less prosecute chronic offenders, and a justice system that rewards watered down plea bargains for scofflaws and gang bangers.
Despite what TKC or anyone else would have you believe in order to sell papers or site hits, things are getting better here.

...not fear mongering
I guess I am still confused why this is breaking news. There is no link to another story, no fabulous tipster who called this in...it's just an observation. I want to know how this "change" compares to last summer. As far as I have seen, this is a pretty normal deal--as the weather warms up, the crime increases and everyone responds accordingly. TKC, I hope you plan on doing a follow-up...
ReplyDeleteIt seems pretty simple. Get the white folks with real guns to team up with similar residents. Bribe the cops to stay away. There's plenty of junky properties around there to bring a backhoe in and dig some deep holes. The river ain't far away.
ReplyDeleteAll this neighborhood needs are results based leaders. Kick the trouble makers down to NKC and let them deal with it.
