Drunk Driving Around the P&L District is pretty much allowed!!!

A few weeks ago I had to the to P&L District . . . When I wasn't watching strangers swapping spit I witnessed a lot of drunken white ladies falling into cars and then taking the wheel. Now there's a bit of proof that my initial observations were correct.
"Negative on targeting Power and Light," Sgt. Rod Podraza, supervisor of the Kansas City Police Department's DUI Section, wrote in an e-mail to (TKC's favorite chickenhead at) The Pitch. "When and if DUI arrests or DUI related crashes are determined to be a problem there we will certainly address that area. P and L has not been in operation long enough to present a statistical DUI problem."
I should say . . . Now there's a bit of proof which follows up initial reports of this fact more than a year ago on Kansas City blogs . . . But noting more precise and immediate blogger observations (i.e. news) over corporate media content is frowned upon by folks looking to maintain a market share in the dying print media industry.

  2. You can always see where they held sobriety checkpoints the next day when there is all the residue from the flares all over the street. And you always see midtown locations. Last year they had them at the entrances to 670 out of the Kemper Arena after a hip-hop concert and they rarely if ever do checkpoints in the Bottoms. And you never see them near the P&L or highway entrances there either.

  3. Was there a problem on 435 when they stopped all the JoCo drivers going home from a Chiefs game? DUI checkpoints will always be politically and economically motivated.

  4. P&L has quickly taken over top spot for the rough part of town. No one is picking up on it because they are blinded by all the shiney stuff.

There are regular brawls, assaults, and even people getting held up.

They are keeping it under the rug because they control security and all their cops are off duty who don't want to write tickets.

  6. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to drive there and possibly have transit options? Nah, that's just crazy talk. It's not like every place in Europe where it's not a big deal even with teenagers out at night drinking because they're not forced to drive everywhere like we do.

  7. If I lived in Europe I would be drunk all the time so I wouldn't have to think about the hairy women. And of course you need transit because the Fiats never run and you can't afford a better car.

  8. Of course if we had an urban rail system .... Oh yeah, Tony hates that idea. He prefers drunks behind the wheel and the old massage parlors that used to populate downtown.

  9. Hey there wasn't a dam thing wrong with those massage place's.

  10. Westport has so drunk checks so often that it feels like the city is trying to shut it down so that P&L will be the only place left to go.

  11. Nice answer, Sarge.

We don't target P&L. But drunk driving there? It's not a problem.

Well, dumbass, how do you know it's not a problem if you don't target it?

Anything to keep the soccer moms and mouth-breathers happy. Right, Sarge?

  13. Europe is so great. 50% taxes, lots of welfare fuckers leeching of those that work, high unemployment, filthy streets. It's amazing.
