Mayor Funky asks for payouts to high powered Black politicos today via Kansas City's emergency fund!!!
When people ask what happened to Mayor Funky's skills as City Auditor . . .
Or his promises to be "smart with the money"
They might remember the shameful political payoff scheme that's being touted today.
On Wednesday, January 7, Mayor Mark Funkhouser will testify before the Finance and Audit Committee to discuss funding for the New Tools for Economic Development Initiative.That almost sounds nice, what the Mayor isn't highlighting is a simple fact:
“This initiative is of critical importance not just to our distressed neighborhoods but City wide,” said Mayor Mark Funkhouser.
The New Tools initiative will work to bring economic development, investment and ultimately people, back into Kansas City’s urban core. In August, the Mayor and Council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution establishing a taskforce to develop new tools for economic development.
MAYOR FUNKY WANTS TO TAKE MONEY FROM THE EMERGENCY FUND IN ORDER TO FINANCE THIS UNPROVEN SCHEME!!!
Kansas City is struggling to recover from a mortgage crisis, a slew of local layoffs and all around economic decline. Meanwhile, Mayor Funky is proposing to give contingency fund money to "community organizers" without even defining the skill set they should posses or how their employment will spark economic development.
Can conservatives defend this type of nonsense that exemplifies big government at its worst?
Progressives can't seriously expect this plan to take hold since this town has such a horrible record putting these projects together. I would think at some point running local government like a social experiment would get too embarrasing.
But this isn't really about economic development . . . It's about politics.
To wit, taking the stage to promote this garbage will be Ajamu Webster. A man described as "a true king and leader, a softspoken but effective hero." Webster is affiliated with Kansas City's Black United Front and a cursory look at their website will reveal arguments for slavery reparations . . . I only wonder if that will be part of the economic stimulus at Kansas City taxpayer expense?
If the City Council was smart they would reject this thing outright but I'm sure it'll be the source of endless, overly polite and completely time wasting debate. Thank you Mayor Funky!!!
In the long run it doesn't matter. Mayor Funky can play social engineer or professor but this kind of big government solution has never succeeded and only further demonstrates that Kansas City's highest ranking elected official either doesn't know what he's doing or is willing to sacrifice the financial security of this town in order to try and win a few votes.

He hasn't proven that he can successfully execute anything - not even something as simple as staffing his own office or making a friend (outside of a one kansas city failed attorney turned blogger). I'm still suspicious that Gloria goes into the bathroom with him because he's not capable of wiping his own ass.

Why couldn't we have a crack smoking mayor, or a mayor that gets caught with hookers? Surely, we can elect a more qualified mayor in the future.
ReplyDeleteWe need to also re think who we elect to be on the council. Remember Rus, the Bully-boy, Johnson? His 1.2 billion dollar light rail plan. And remember the public voted it down 56% to 44%. Yet no council person debated or questioned it. 13 council had lost contact with the public.

ReplyDeleteHow difficult can it be to see that a group of felons like "Bishop" Jimmy Tindall and Rodney "The Fix" Bland are running a racket to extort cold hard cash from political committees and the public treasury. If you want Craig Bland to deliver the Freedom Inc endorsement you pay 10 K to bother Rodney. To ice the deal you simply place a big chunk of radio ads with the "Bishop's" son, who sells radio time for stations that no one listens to. Sure the cash does not go directly to to Freedom Inc leadership but the money spends either way.
Then once the politicians are in office the Blands and the Tindalls put pressure on County Legislators and Councilmembers to feed them money through schemes like this one or a whole list worthless programs paid for out of COMBAT.

This is an easy one. You do not have to be competent to look good with low hanging fruit like this. Or are you just too comfortable sitting around the Federal Courthouse eating donuts to get up and do your job?
