TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! INSIDE THE ANNUAL KANSAS CITY NAACP MEETING!!!

Mainstream Kansas City media decided not to cover a recent meeting of the local chapter of the NAACP last night but it was actually quite an eventful gathering.

Recent statements to the press by Missouri State Rep. Jonas Hughes dominated discussions during the evening.

Remember that Hughes expressed his interest in taking control of the Kansas City School District away from the current School Board and handing it over to an appointed board of local community leaders.

The idea was greeted with a cold reception last night, School Board President Marilyn Simmons was in the crowd stirring up discontent against Hughes and his proposal. Others joined in and questioned the loyalty to constituents demonstrated by Hughes . . .

UNFORTUNATELY, VERY FEW PEOPLE NOTED THAT ALLOWING THE FAILURE OF THE KANSAS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CONTINUE IS THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL TO VOTERS AND STUDENTS!!!

Also, I should note that leaders in the crowd continually expressed that they "weren't attacking" Hughes in the typical Kansas City Passive Aggressive Political style that called into question loyalty and judgment but then feigned civility at the end of these statements in order to guard against a pointed response.

The overriding conclusion that could be derived from this meeting is that The Black Political Elite in Kansas City are seemingly content with the disastrous results the school District produces year after year. Sadly, this issue of control and The Black Leadership is more important than the prospect of producing yet another lost generation of students in the urban core woefully unprepared for the information economy. They're still trumpeting the meaningless success of the Central Debate Team, they're still searching for success amid massive failure . . . They're still attempting to rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic.

The only thing that's clear is that radical change is not an option and any move to challenge the control of The District will be met with nothing but underhanded contempt.

  1. Are they still calling themselves "Colored People" even though we have elected a halfsie black president in the new post-racial world?

  2. Colored people means people of all colors are accepted. (EVERYONE)

  3. Fixing the schools ranks with getting light rail. We need to do something, but what? Implode the damn thing. Simmons was to have been a leader of change, she is now just a tired old KCMSD whore. Too bad.

  4. Damn, that's rough. Simmons isn't the real problem it's the corruption from the hangers on that's killing KC Schools.

  5. Simmons is absolutely the problem! She is just as corrupt as the whole lot. Remember how she tried to sell a school building for almost nothing to a friend? How about the fact that she doesn't pay her property taxes? These same taxes that help to support the schools. How about her leading the effort to approve over $500k for drums for the Afrikan Centered Campus?

She and the rest of the board just handed a PR Firm (Sturgis - Word) a $330K contract a couple of weeks ago to help them with their image and no one gives a shit about this?

She is a flunky for the Black United Front and Arthur Benson. She has contempt for anyone who doubts her abilities and is a horrible representative for the school district. Have you ever heard this woman speak? She sounds retarded!!!

She and this entire board needs to go and go fast. I'm glad that a black elected official from KC is finally trying to do something about this mess and is standing up for the right thing. I applaud Rep. Jonas Hughes and I hope that he pulls this off.

I, along with other parents of color are tired of our children receiving a second rate education and are willing to support these efforts.

  6. The entire board is a joke. Marilyn is too ignorant to understand that she is just a pawn to the same corrupt people that helped prop her up.

I don't know if Mr. Hughes will have a shot at reforming this piece of shit we call a school district, but it will be entertaining as hell to watch.

  7. Did Hughes even go to school?

  8. A second rate education begins at home. Got any mirrors around your house?

  9. Kansas City is corrupt and content.
