TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! INCOMING DEMOCRAT MISSOURI ETHICS COMMISSION COULD DO MAJOR DAMAGE TO KANSAS CITY'S MAYOR FUNKY!!!
In some pretty fantastic reporting today on KMBZ it was revealed that the internal City Hall Ethics Investigation of Mayor Funky just might cooperate with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Now here's the inside scoop:
WITH A NEW DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR AND NEW APPOINTMENTS TO THE MISSOURI ETHICS COMMISSION, THEY COULD COME DOWN HARDER ON MAYOR FUNKY THAN THEY HAVE IN THE PAST!!!
For quite some time Kansas City Democrats have expressed their disgust with the Co-Mayors at City Hall; now that the local Dems hare garnered a bit of power, they just might be able to do something about it. Remember that Mayor Funky was rejected as a delegate for the Dem. National Convention . . . And the Mayor has made little effort during his time in office to build a relationship with the political party that still runs Kansas City politics . . . Instead he refers to them as elite and dismisses their advice at every turn.
To be fair, Mayor Funky's alleged offense: A possible "willful violation" of The Missouri Sunshine law and an embarrasing lapse in campaign ethics rules cited by Light Rail opponents - Those are not "hanging" offenses and word is he won't be thrown out of office for those alleged missteps . . . However, if he faces a fine . . . It will be A LOT more significant than his last run-in with the Missouri Ethics Commission and it'll only further damage his credibility and Kansas City's reputation.
Apparently, we're a "City that works" with a Mayor who doesn't care about the law.
It's about time.

ReplyDeleteNone of the charges have merit.

ReplyDeleteYou obviousls have no idea what you are talking about.
(1) ANY document either created by or in the possession of a governmental entity is subject to the Missouri Sunshine Law. Failure to turn over said document after a request is drafted is a class "A" misdemenaor (i.e. - a prosecutable crime). Specifically covered by the Sunshine Act are MEMOS FROM MEETINGS held by governments or its employees. Conclusion: Funk ordered Miller to violate the Sunshine law and thus committed a class "A" misdemeanor;
(2) Former speaker of the Missouri House Bob Griffen went to federal prison (yes, you heard me, federal prison), after being convicted of using government property to conduct campaign activity (in his case, he was convicted of using a fax machine to send out campaign notices). In this case, your mayor has used phones, office stationary, other equipment and government employee time to conduct campaign activity. Conclusion: Yet again, your mayor has violated the law.
In short, you can claim the "charges have no merit," but the evidence says otherwise my friend.
anon 807PM sounds a lot like the Funk himself...
ReplyDelete1) the Cauthen Firing and hiring by the council... Funk said no, the Council and a court and an appeals court said yes ---> Funk... wrong
2) light rail... Funk said it was supported by all and the Squid called him the Smartest guy in the room (on Steve Rose show) and said that said Smartest Guy had cinched a deal for light rail ---> Funk... wrong again
3) Big Ed Wolf... Funk said he was an "essential worker" and should be allowed to return to government and double dip (salary and pension)... Big Ed Wolf gone, the Squid was in charge any way ---> Funk ... wrong yet again
4) Funk told us he would be the leader of an honest and open government... hid documents from FOI requests and terminated note taking of minutes
---> Funk... wrong again
5) Funk told us he was "smart with the money." ... Funk has a house worth less than the numerous mortgages against it (upside down). And he brought us the finance campaign filing debacle. This is smart with the money? ---> Funk wrong
6) Funk told us that the power brokers, real estate developers and TIF hungry business people would find no home at City Hall. Putting aside that his office is at his home now, these very same people paid for his inauguration and the TIF fiasco has gone on and on (Boley Building, Bannister Mall/Soccer/Cerner development) all with donors to his campaign. ---> Funk... wrong again
Okay, enough for todays notice...
All the crap is made up by Mike Sanders in order to clear Mark out of the way for the 5th Congressional district seat.
ReplyDeleteIt is cruel and foul.
Tony makes a good point. The Funkee machine has gone WAY out of its way recently to poke a stick in the eye of local Dems. Want proof? Look no further than the BS spewed out on this BLOG by the Funkettes about the likes of Mike Sanders and all of the solidly democratic council members (FYI Funk: Sanders was a co-chair of the Nixon campaign for governor). Plus, alienating the hispanic and black communities to boot. Another series of not-so-smart-move by our brilliant mayor.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Salino wrote that: "All the crap is made up by Mike Sanders in order to clear Mark out of the way for the 5th Congressional district seat."
ReplyDelete1. I guess it proves the point above that Funk and his brilliant team don't get Dem. politics, and
2. For anyone to even TYPE that Funk is somehow in the running for the 5th congressional means that they have been hitting the pipe really heavy in Funky town tonight.
Salino Salino everyone loves Salino :) You're a card, Big Guy!
ReplyDeleteFunk for Congress?

It might not be the pipe. I think it was the smudge stick.
ReplyDeleteremember when the squid asked Wal Mart if they needed a TIF. Stupid is as Stupid does.
ReplyDeleteNeed to expand the ethics investigation to include all council persons and there staff. Start with Rus Johnson who used his office and email to bully people around during the campaign.
ReplyDeleteWhat has happened to Mensa Man now that he was proven wrong about Light rail and was not capable of scaring off all of the money that supported the opposition.
ReplyDeleteThe guy can't get anything right. Is he meeting with Jan again? is he the head of the Regional Light Rail Planning Committee?
Is he keeping his head down so that he will not get swept up in the oust Funky campaign?
No need for ethics to investigate him you got to have some ethical position and he is wishy washy.
