THANKS TO A VERY AWESOME AND KICKASS TKC TIPSTER FOR SENDING THESE PHOTOS MY WAY!!!
Apparently, yet another business owner is blaming Kansas City for the demise of their local storefront.
According to a very observant TKC TIPSTER, Mr. C's Vacuums is located on 63rd street, nearly adjacent to the troubled Citadel project. What with the asbestos and shaky finances related to the Citadel fiasco, it's a miracle that Mr. C's didn't got out of business earlier just because of the proximity to the Kansas City taxpayer funded disaster.
Sadly, Mr. C's is finally calling it quits . . .
AND BLAMING THE CITY ACCORDING TO THE SIGN IN FRONT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT PHOTOGRAPHED BY A VERY KICKASS TIPSTER!!!
Famous last words: "The City Did It."
Now, I don't know if Mr. C can blame his bad business on Kansas City . . . After all, for some odd reason people want to buy flimsy looking vacuum cleaners from guys with British accents.
Still, for the longest time small business people in KC have felt neglected by local government and it doesn't look like anything is changing given that most politicos in this town are either bureaucrats or non-profit people with little real world business experience and only consider KC entrepreneurs when developing a cheap political payoff strategy.
I don't think you know what you are talking about, my family has been a customer since the 70's. The same thing happened to him that happened to Jake's BBQ.
ReplyDeleteObviously you didn't buy enough.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that the city is ousting businesses that have contributed to the community when everyone else had abondoned it for a pipe dream that drug it's feet for so long that the economic wave that MIGHT have made if viable has passed.
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered why these developments don't just build on land that is available in the area without displacing another business, ask the existing businesses to move in and go from there.
Instead they want the same box stores that are already everywhere else in the community.
A business paying taxes kicked out for a business not paying taxes to move in. Totally Idiotic Financing... or TIF for short.
ReplyDeleteWait a tick? The city did it?
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. WTF ever happened to personal accountability Mister?!
Those are the same people who claim, God did it.
ReplyDeleteMr. C's was moved because of the Citadel project. The City did it.
