Kansas City's Sad Situation on display for the entire nation to enjoy courtesy of the Wall Street Journal:
"Kansas City Gives Mayor's Helpmate the Heave-Ho From City Hall"
It's what just about everybody in this town is going to be reading today.
Update: I just finished reading it and I'm very comforted by the fact that my blog is much more interesting. Sadly . . . The rest of the nation must turn to TKC (hehe) in order to be constantly reminded of the bare feet of Gloria Squitiro or read the phrase "Dr. Sausage Fingers"
"The whole thing is just a little weird," says a neighbor, Steve Rain. "I mean, he's a grown man. Shouldn't he be able to work alone?"
ReplyDelete"It's a classic love story," says Garry Cushinberry, a bank vice president who sat at the mayor's table at an awards dinner Nov. 14. "He's risking his political career for the woman he loves. You have to respect that."
ReplyDelete"It is bizarre, in a word, for the mayor to sue his own city," says Ed Ford, a member of the city council. "He seems to be saying there's one overriding issue that I care about more than anything else, and that is my ability to spend time with my wife at City Hall."
ReplyDeleteThose have to be the most flattering drawing/photos of the funk ever created.
ReplyDeleteThey best line:
ReplyDelete"Ms. Squitiro, who masterminded her husband's campaign..."
What? What about Nutter's gang?
Can't wait to see what she "masterminds" up for his re-election campaign.
But we won't have to worry. The incoming Mo Attorney General will dump him on State Nepotism Statutes, hopefully, as his first order of business.
The campaign for the Funk worked in spite of Mrs. Funk. She was almost responsible for his not getting the 503 votes he needed from Al Brooks territory in south Kansas city. She and he have successfully forgotten that.
ReplyDeleteYou people need to let it go. It was funny listening to KMBZ tonight rehashing this tiresome story just because the WSJ did it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Mike Shanin was so disappointed that the WSJ wrote a more balanced piece than all this crap we endure here in KC about it. He said he was sad that he didn't learn anything new. There IS nothing new! Its just petty crap and the public's not up in arms about it at all.
The media's doing its usual overkill and that includes bloggers who dont get out much. (Tony)
Fact is, this just isn't a big story...it's a human interest story that should be reported once, not over and over.
What does the media need to get over this...a missing white woman to preoccupy them for a few months?
The WSJ carefully ignored significant facts. There's more to be known, and we'll just have to wait to read more depositions. In the meantime, the epic failures of Kendrick Blackwood, the mayor, and what few friends/allies he has will serve to further retard the city's progress. The mayor needs to resign--now.
ReplyDeleteSURRENDER DOROTHY
ReplyDeleteWSJ is not an important news source for KC. The reporter was traveling around town with the mayor, so we knew that it was not independently investigating the public attitude.
ReplyDeleteFunkhouser has not delivered. It would appear as mayor he is a failure even if you put aside the issue with Gloria. His administration has not delivered.
Lets keep him on so we can have the entertainment. A more effective mayor would sell more tax increases. Barnes sold more tax increases and TIFs than we can pay for.
I agree we need the laughs he provides us. If he wasn't hiding at home he might be doing some kind of stupid TAX RAISING stuff. It is better to keep the mess we have which gives us some laughs than to trade it for some Mike Burke red tie pontificating crap which is always boring.
