There was a recent memo sent out for community leaders regarding the terminology used to describe Truman Medical Center.
For those who don't know, TMC often hosts the uninsured and the slew of people shot over the average Kansas City summer weekend.
The place is commonly referred to as "the poor people's hospital." However, in a note to board members President/CEO John W. Bluford reminds everyone that "even poor people don’t like to go to a poor person’s hospital."
Here are the suggested terms offered by Mr. Bluford to describe TMC that might not offend patients (i.e. po'folk):
Actually, I respect the effort to re-brand the place but this is a dumbass jokey blog and I have some suggestions of my own. Check it:
Yeah, I don't think my suggestions will improve anyone's self esteem but they might lighten the mood for patients. Feel free to add your monikers for this KC institution that does a lot of good as this nation preapres to choose be between two presidential candidates who don't have much to say about health care.
"High-risk" of never paying any portion of their huge medical bill.
ReplyDelete"Diverse" in the degrees that they are sucking the health care system dry.
"Special needs" that result in the working class paying for their
"Underinsured" but still getting that liver transplant after years of boozing and drug use.
Huzzah!!! The system is unfixable and a walk down the halls of TMC will quickly illustrate why.
How about "So fucking scary that after this visit I'm getting a job with health benefits so I don't ever have to come to this hellhole ever again"?
ReplyDelete12:52 you are correct sir.
