The $815 million price tag for light rail in Kansas City could likely buy all potential riders a new car!!!

Spivak writes a great Q&A about the upcoming light rail vote but unfortunately buries the most important detail (THE COST) near the end of the article. On the bright side, this is one of the few articles I've read which actually address the downside of this dumbass plan to solve a transportation problem that doesn't exist.
You dreaming, Tony, $815 million is the first price, before the two extra miles, the bridges, and the maintenance yard and then you have to add the bonding costs. Gerald at KCATA says the pre bonding cost is $1.2 Billion. He should know he works for the fools pushing this down our throats.
ReplyDeleteI want mine to be red.
ReplyDeleteWe can pay for part of the light rail costs but invisioning selling bill board size ads on the sides of the light rail car. Each car is 90 ft long and would be viewed by thousand every day. Some will see this as billboard blight and fight it. Others will see it as light rail urban art. Get onboard and support a billon dollar rail road to the Plaza. I want mine Royal Blue. The city of billboards can become the city of moving billboards. Lamar and CBS can help pay for the project.
ReplyDeleteThey are putting billboards two high now on the highway maybe we could have double deck LIGHT RAIL and double the income from the Billboards!!!
ReplyDeleteIt will pay for itself!!!
