Actually, I think this move on Dieter's part is kind of funny but I'm sure a lot of other folks won't find the humor . . .
On Dec. 17, Sanders issued an email to county employees saying:Yeah, messing with voting blocs near X-mas is a great way lose popularity really quickly . . . While I've always liked the time on Sprockets when we dance, it's not a good idea do skip around promises to the cops.
“As a special thanks for all the hard work from our valued Employees, the County Executive, Michael D. Sanders, has designated Monday, December 24, 2007 as a paid county Holiday.”
Several hours later, Sanders issued a second email saying regular county employees would still get Christmas Eve off with pay, but that it wouldn’t count as an official paid holiday.
The change in definition means emergency personnel, like sheriff’s deputies won’t receive holiday pay for their work Christmas Eve.
“It's a slap in the face for us to be working and knowing that others are off,” says Sheriff’s Deputy Dwon Littlejohn who serves as the Fraternal Order of Police President.
This is the first year the County has ever shut down for X-Mas eve in recent memory. BTW, police have to work everyday including holidays. If that moron from the FOP doesn't like it, then he needs to get a new job and quit whining. Does he really think that the police should get x-mas off? Is he an idiot?
ReplyDeleteOK, I don;t get it. The union guy thinks that the police shouldn't have to work just because the secretary's went home? He thinks that the public shouldn't be protected and they should just get to go home for x-mas? Is he fucking that stupid? Tony's right, this guy is funny.
ReplyDeleteI am a union member, and a citizen of Jackson County, and Littlejohn sounds like a negative-stereotype to me.
ReplyDeleteLet's face it. It is hard to tell when the Deputy Sheriffs are on the clock or off the clock in Jackson County.
I suppose we could monitor whether donut consumption is up (on the clock) or beer consumption is up (off the clock) and learn the most about this population's movements. Either that or we could check to see if any of the lazy FOP SOBs are parking in the handicapped spaces on Oak Street again -- class act Deputy Bubba.
Here is a tip. Find out who the FOP endorses for Sheriff and then vote for someone else. They are bound to pick a patsy who they can push around.
It appears this Sanders administration can dish it out, but can't take it. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that everytime a mildly negative thing is said about them, three or four "anonymous" blogers get all up in your grill? Sanders lackeys need to get back on their meds or grow a brain. (hey, I can have my fantasies)
ReplyDeleteTo Deputy Littlejohn and all uzzer county minions:
ReplyDelete"Your agony is gorgeous."
How is saying a lazy union hack is hella-stupid anything but the freakin truth? This guy wants to get triple time pay to lay around on his fat lazy ass, and is "angry" that the taxpayers don't think thats a good idea. Sounds like people need to get a clue in the Sherriff's department and get to doing what their supposesd to do, protecdt us.
ReplyDeletethey don't work that hard
ReplyDeleteWrong. Not the "first year in recent memory" the county has shut down for Christmas Eve. Is Dieter blogging again? Calvin was supposed to stay on top of that...
ReplyDeleteOh Bullshit. I've worked in the county since 1988 and have NEVER had an x-mas eve off that didn't fall on a weekend. I worked 1/2 days in my department, but they were still work days. You have an agenda, and it aint the truth.
ReplyDeleteIf the demand for "triple time" is true the Deputies are WAY out of line. Time and a half for overtime and Double time for holidays or some excessive levels of overtime are the standards.
ReplyDeleteAgain, if TRIPLE TIME is true, there is your story Tony.
Anyone that thinks that Sanders ought to have given the FOP 3x holiday pay for sitting on their asses at home, is fucking stupid. No employer does anything like that, and especially with taxpayers money. If he HAD agreed to that, then that's when everyone should have been pissed.
ReplyDeleteSomebody seems "anonymously" desperate to deflect attention from Mike Sanders making a mistake, and not even a big one at that (he's made bigger ones - a lot bigger - recently). Aren't we just so lucky the brainiacs are here to tell us all when we should be pissed and when we shouldn't? What did we ever do without you? "It's the first time in history Jackson County has ever... blah, blah, blah..." And when any one of us little people doesn't feel like getting in line and eating that poop sandwich, well then, get a rope!
ReplyDelete(insert hand gesture here)
Watching Dieter make his decisions is so beautiful, and angular. I'm happy as a little GIIIIIRL!!! There Calvin. Are you happy now?
ReplyDeleteYo "no more", remember that jealousy is on of the 7 deadlys dude. Merry x-mas.
