MAMMY-GATE GOES FROM GOSSIP TO NEWS! GLORIA SQUITIRO MUST GO!!!

The Star FINALLY REPORTED ON MAMMY GATE!!! HOORAY!!!

Here's what TKC posted previously:

  • SHE CALLED HER MAMMY!!! CONFIRMED!!! GLORIA MUST GO!!!

  • TKC Undercover: A bit of info on how Gloria Squitiro's "Mammy" comment went down

  • Who is gonna ask? . . .

  • TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! RUMOR HAS IT THE MAYOR'S WIFE USED THE M-WORD!!! GLORIA MUST GO IF IT'S TRUE!!!

  • And we shouldn't forget that KSHB and The Call were brave enough to report this story a few weeks ago AND ALSO MENTIONED TKC!!!

Here are my favorite ugly details from THE STAR:
An employee of the Kansas City mayor’s office said Wednesday night that she filed a formal complaint after the mayor’s wife called her “Mammy.”

Ruth Bates, who is African-American, filed a complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission this fall. But Wednesday was the first time she talked publicly about the complaint, which also claims bias in her rate of pay.
EVEN WORSE: Here is MAYOR FUNKHOUSER'S INCOMPREHENSIBLE, DISHONEST AND CONDESCENDING DEFENSE:
Funkhouser said Wednesday night that “Mammy” wasn’t a racial slur because Squitiro “puts an ‘e’ on virtually everything” as a form of endearment, particularly with friends, which they considered Bates to be.

In this case, he said Squitiro added an “e” sound to “ma’am” and as a result apparently had said “Yes, Ma’am-e” to Bates.

As proof that no offense was intended, he said, his wife refers to herself as “Mammy” in conversations and e-mails.

“She did not know anyone would construe it as a racial slur,” he said.
And really, anyone who would believe such a thing is a complete idiot and deserves to give Gloria Squitiro a foot massage. Only the most die hard Funkhouser loyalist would consider such a foolhardy explanation credible.

Actually, I'm just a bit giddy that I got something right for a change!!!

There's more to the story that involves pay disparity and the Mayor's overall respect for all of Kansas City regarding his endorsement of nepotism in keeping his wife employed as an unpaid campaign volunteer in the mayor's office where she is accountable to no one.

But the same people who spoke out against Amato yesterday need to (probably will) do the same when it comes to Squitiro. If insensitive language is inappropriate in one place then it's inappropriate everywhere.

Those bitches and d-bags should definitely get right on top of that . . .

    TKC STAYS WINNING!!!

  • Finally, here's a bit of info about Hattie McDaniel:

McDaniel solidified the "Mammy" character/caricature in American popular culture. She was the first African-American to win an Oscar but her depiction also drew fierce criticism from African-American leaders. She was born on June 10, 1895 in Wichita, Kansas.

Her role and acting ability in the motion picture "Gone with the Wind" was so powerful that anyone who has watched TV in the past 50 years couldn't possibly claim that they weren't aware of the "Mammy" archetype which she helped to craft.

    4. Now dont gloat too much TONYEEEE.
I put the long E sound on words for no reason all the time. Okay , thats bullshit, but it sounds as believable as Funkys response.

      ReplyDelete
    5. Derogatory language is used against white people all the time but it never makes the news. Cracker, whitey and other term are probably always heard in City Hall but The Star won't let you know about that.

      ReplyDelete
    6. No, by rights, you won't hear it because the white people at the hall have been sooooo oppressed. That is why the majority of department heads, managers and city council and anyone with any type of real power or authority in city hall is white.

      ReplyDelete
    7. I love my Mammy!

      It's a term of affection.

But then again I also perform in blackface.

      ReplyDelete
    8. Obese black women terrorize every office they work in. Anyone who works with them knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Large and in charge with a chip on their shoulder the size of Lemmy's carbuncle.

      ReplyDelete
    9. All right. You're racist and you listen to motorhead. Not a surprise but a bit stereotypical.

      ReplyDelete
    10. All those pictures are making me crazy panckage syrup. I don't know why. The urge to eat cornbread and pancakes coated in yummy syrup is overpowering.

      ReplyDelete
    11. Actually I hate Motorhead but Lemmy's carbuncle was the first thing I thought of to illustrate my point. Say, was "Ace of Spades" really about blacks? MMMmm.

      ReplyDelete
    12. Oh that's not racist at all.

With that kind of observation. Gloria and you should be fast friends.

      ReplyDelete
    13. TKC stays biting Dallas Penn

      ReplyDelete
    14. This whole scandal is not important. Shame on The Star for reporting gossip and rumors.

      ReplyDelete
    15. Notice how nobody is mentioning yourname TOny your a loser and you should quit this loser blog.

      ReplyDelete
    16. but see, this is the whole difference between actual journalism and a joke blog. The Star waits until they actually see the complaint, thet talk to the complainant, she speaks on the record, they call Gloria and get her side (she declines). It's then a credible story. If The Star printed every rumor and innuendo they heard, they'd lose their credibility in a moment.

Blogging is not journalism. Know the difference.

      ReplyDelete
    17. nobody saw the complaint yet dumbass. The article says that.

      That's what they call reading.

      ReplyDelete
    18. You sound like a choad Tony.

      ReplyDelete
    19. Get a life and a job Tony.

      ReplyDelete
    20. A couple of things here:

      1. A complaint is not a rumor, nor is it gossip. It's a legitimate story. If someone doesn't like it, blame Squitiro for allegedly making the comments, not the Star for writing about it.

      2. The article doesn't say nobody saw the complaint. The article says Ruth Bates didn't provide a copy to the Star, and I can understand why -- it was a TELEPHONE interview. I've worked for two newspapers, and it typically works like this: Reporter gets complaint and prepares questions, reporter contacts plaintiff (or defendant), plaintiff (or defendant) answers questions and confirms or denies what's in the complaint. End of story. Reading? No. Experience? Yes.

      3. Bates admits that low pay is one of the reasons for filing the complaint. I'd love to hear her answer when she's asked this question by the city's defense attorney:

"Now, Ms. Bates, you've said publicly that low pay is one of the reasons you filed a complaint. You're making $32,000 a year. Would you have filed this complaint if you were making twice that amount? What about three times that amount?"

Seems to me like she's got a price tag on racism. At $32,000, "Mammy" is a racist comment. Is it still racist at $42,000? $52,000?

      ReplyDelete
    21. Finally an intelligent comment on this blog.

It all sounds to me like typical black shakedown tactics. So you'll excusee me if I don't get all teary eyed.

      ReplyDelete
    22. Message to all white people in Kansas City: Tape your mouths shut with duct tape if you want to live in that hell hole of a city, oh and while you're at it, wear a bullet proof vest at all times.

      ReplyDelete
    23. Is is really that hard to avoid using derogatory language in the workplace. Is there some reason that people need to use the word Mammy to refer to anyone?

      I didn't think so.

      ReplyDelete
    24. The racial politics in this town are getting out of control. Tony would like to believe that it only goes one way, but it works both ways. Or, given the recent influx of Latino political power, all three ways.

      ReplyDelete
    25. First Semler and now poor Gloria.

Tony and Steve Glorioso now have their targets on Gloria, Funkhousers wife.
It you can't get the big guy, get the people who surrounds him.

      You two are something else

      ReplyDelete
    26. Get rid of Gloria and you get rid of the Mayor.

      ReplyDelete
    27. Maybe Im missing something here. The arguments Ive heard so far is that its about money.
      Blacks call whites cracker.
      Its a witch hunt.
All of those comments may or may not hold truth. But those points even if true are moot.
The fact remains that the Mayor is expected to run his administration in a manner that does not create division, controversy and one fuck up after another. I really held high hopes that funk would be another berkley or wheeler. He couldnt be further in comparison to either. If he is willing to let his wife use the mayors office and city hall as her personal playground, constantly opening her pie hole to utter one idiotic statement after the other, What does that say about his leadership? What does that say about his priorities as they relate to serving this city?

      ReplyDelete
    28. "Message to all white people in Kansas City: Tape your mouths shut with duct tape if you want to live in that hell hole of a city, oh and while you're at it, wear a bullet proof vest at all times."

This is why people are racist. Someone says something you are offended by and the first thing you do is threaten to shoot them. Is it any wonder people look at you the way they do? Anyway, calling someone by a tv characters name is not really that offensive. I don't think a doctor would threaten to kill you if you called him Doogie Howser.

      ReplyDelete
    29. Ban Cinco de Mayor

      ReplyDelete
    30. It's not just a TV character it's a racist slur. People who don't understand it don't know history.

The Funkhouser explanation is a joke that's more offensive than this blog.

      ReplyDelete
    31. paintman how could you possibly defend this kind of thing? There's not reason to insult someone for no reason like that.

Are you giving Gloria a foot massage?

      ReplyDelete
    32. Lets get rid of Rita whats her face and President of the La Raza Janet what's her face.

      ReplyDelete
    33. lets get rid of the Mayor and his wife.

Good job Tony. I read your post everyday.

      ReplyDelete
    34. I'll trade a couple of Mammy comments for La Raza anyday.

      ReplyDelete
    35. Today, Funkhouser announced he won't let Cauthen keep his job. Last week, the Pitch reported, "Cauthen spent $32,163 on 23 trips between January 1, 2006, and October 8, 2007." A lot of that expense was incredibly shady.

      Any questions?

Stop posting stupid posts like this..........it shows your ignorance.

      ReplyDelete
    40. That sounds to me like a lot of people looking for things to offend them so they have a reason to complain about how tough life is for them. Life is so much easier if you just let a few things slide.

      ReplyDelete
    41. It's even better when you pray for guidance.

      ReplyDelete
    42. This is terrible, but definitely par for the course coming from Funk-loser's office. I thought Funk-loser's blame-the-victim for "taking it the wrong way" excuse was pretty appalling.

Can we start a RECALL effort already?

      ReplyDelete
    43. Great job on getting to this story first! If I wasn't completely broke, I'd syndicate you. It's sad that the Star has a multi-million dollar infrastructure and they're still last to pick up the news.

You probably know this already, but if you're from Kansas City it's common knowledge that the Star is the last place to go to for news.

      ReplyDelete
    44. You dumbasses and your silly recall chant.

    46. I think this whole thing is getting blown out of proportion already. Until all the facts are out on the table I will hold back on any comment. Off to go soak up some rays of sun before the next snow storm!!!

      ReplyDelete
    47. This is all part of a greater consipracy, and Tony is playing right into it.

After the blacks and whites and latinos all kill each other and the Arabs blow up whoever is left and themselves in the process, the Asian community, who has so far seemed to be keeping to themselves in all of this, will complete their master plan and seize control.

      ReplyDelete
    48. I hate to comment on this stupid blog but the level of ignorance I'm reading is out of control.

      Funkhouser's wife did something wrong.

She could end this whole debate if she simply apologized.

      End of story.

      ReplyDelete
    49. Don't fire Funkhouser. Sack Squitiro.

      ReplyDelete
    50. funny how dave helling has the story on porn gate but is holding it back. wouldn't want to receive the wrath of the pajama media, Mr. Big Time Media Man???

      ReplyDelete
    51. Saw the news this afternoon. All of the blacks yelling at our Mayor.

      What a fucking disgrace.

Tony you don't really want to throw your lot in with those people. They're no good for this city and they've never accomplished a thing but complaining.

      ReplyDelete
    52. Stop funding the Gradalupe Center and the National Coalition of The Race Mr President.

      ReplyDelete
    53. everyone loves the Mayor. They just don't know it yet.

      Right Paintman.

      ReplyDelete
    54. I think there is a lesson that all of us can learn from this. It is a very important lesson, so please take note. Funkhuoser should have never been put in this position.
The bottom line, the lesson, and the moral of the sotry is this:

      NEVER HIRE NIGGERS!!!!!

      ReplyDelete
    55. Typical Funkhouser supporter.

      ReplyDelete
    56. Sorry for the language usage above - it should have said "story", not "sotry".

      ReplyDelete
    57. Remember this as well:

You can't reason with a nigger.

      ReplyDelete
    58. my name is midtown and I'm gay! please call me at 1-900-got-cock!

      ReplyDelete
    59. niggers, mammy or thugs.....means the same thing!

      ReplyDelete
    60. It certainly is difficult to work with a group of black women. We all know it to be true and so few of us will admit it. Show me an office with several fat black women and I'll show you an office that is ripe with controversy.

      ReplyDelete
    61. Now their just using the N-word outright. Sad and representative of what Mayor Funkhouser stands for.

      ReplyDelete
    62. The N-word? You must mean NIGGERS!
It's OK, niggers refer to themselves as niggas. The only reason they say nigga instead of nigger is because they are too lazy.

      If I was a rapper, I'd call myself Nigger-O.

      ReplyDelete
    63. Wow. I think we are getting a sad but true look at the mayor's voting body. If he is anything like these commenters you bet your ass I will be signing my name on recall petitions.
