Other people might be skeptical of claims of racism from an employee who left under the circumstances involving computer porn.
HOWEVER, given the current racially divisive climate throughout Kansas City . . . I don't dismiss LaTrisha Underhill's allegations entirely and I agree that a lot of her trouble was politically motivated.
People who might disagree with me are pushing the fantastic notion that there is no politics involved in personnel decisions at City Hall and the subject of race is never a factor. Riiiiiiight.
Anyhoo, here's what she had to say in her own words with my emphasis added:
There has been a coordinated attack on my character since June 2007 by individuals inside and outside of City Hall. A phone call was placed to the Internal Auditor, by a City appointee, in June that made specific and malicious allegations against me that were defamatory per se. Rather than taking into account the clearly vitriolic and politically motivated nature of the allegations, the Internal Auditor chose to "investigate" one portion of the caller's allegations.
The totality of the allegations made it evident that the caller was alleging that I, as a young, African-American female, could not have achieved my position within the City based on my ability and education.
Since that time, the nature of the alleged "investigation" and my own name has been repeatedly leaked to the public through various media outlets and an anonymous weblog, in violation of Missouri law and City policy on personnel issues. Sadly, a personnel issue that should have been handled with sensitivity and in a discreet manner has been treated as a political issue.
I would like to apologize to the citizens and employees of Kansas City, Missouri for any inappropriate use of work e-mail on my part. It demonstrates a lack of judgment. I want to assure the taxpayers that no harm was committed to the City. None of the messages I sent have put the City's security at risk or opened the City to litigation or exposure.
I have met many wonderful individuals in Kansas City and am constantly encouraged by the positive energy and efforts to move the City forward. I wish only the best for Kansas City and its residents in the years to come.
It sounds pretty thin to me. Mammy Gate is one thing, clearly that was an issue of racial insensitivity at the very least and it was inexcusable. But this woman was fired because she admitedly violated work place rules. Now after the fact she cries racism. That dog just wont hunt. And it is just this type of race card playing that makes legit claims get called in to question. Ms. Underhill wasnt a big player in city hall, so the politics claim is horseshit as well. She should have taken her lumps and left without crying wolf.
ReplyDeleteYou and I both know that when you meet someone named LaTisha or LaFawnda or any variation thereof, that there's going to be trouble. It's just a matter of when, not if. Three points, top of the key, nothing but net, walks off the court with hand outstretched above his head.
ReplyDeleteSelf important bitch. She's trying to make herself a martyr for some of that black church preacher attention. She's a poor employee that got caught sending vile things on company time.
ReplyDeleteNext issue.
TYPICAL BLACK GARBAGE.
ReplyDeleteHOPE THE CHECKOUT LINE AT WALMART TREATS HER BETTER.
SO LONG SISTER.
Knock it off, white trash idiots and jesters. I've worked with LT and she has a wonderful mind, excellent education, and she's very sharp. Unlike you redneck heathens, she can actually write a complete sentence. It IS political, probably racist, and most of all jealousy because she actually made something of herself.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of office is Cauthen running? He flys all over the world on junkets while his staffers are pornos.
ReplyDeleteShe went to Yale? Affirmative action at its finest!!
Anonymous 6:00PM needs to lay off. I too have worked with LT and many of Wayne's other Denver buddies. I believe that she is just the first of many to be forced into leaving City Hall ... or at least I hope so. There is way too much waste within city government that needs to be cleaned up.
ReplyDeleteCan we please stop referring to her as LT like she's in the damn NFL or some such nonsense.
ReplyDeleteCome on.....you can tell us how you were sending to each porn back and forth. But she got caught.

ReplyDeleteShows that $108,000 a year won't buy you common sense in KC. Get rid of the whiners.
