A great account of last week's Cyclocross race in KCK from "Dirt Rag: The Mountain bike form." Here's my favorite line: "The cold air at the venue burned my lungs. I wondered if I would be able to ride on a day like this, and then realized that these elite riders must deal with this kind of weather all the time. By the time my race started at 8:00 a.m., the temperature had risen to a balmy 11 degrees. The course was frozen solid as we began the three-lap race . . ."

In the mud and off of the city streets where they belong. I don't want to see any hipsters doing track-stands while wearing Fidel Castro hats in Midtown.
