Not a big surprise!!! No local venue wants to host the Minutemen!

I tuned in to Shanin and Parks this afternoon only to hear the Minuteman Convention in Kansas City can't secure meeting space. At least that's what the head of the Kansas Chapter said to KC's conservative radio duo.

Mind you, the "convention" (er, picnic) is slated for December and they still don't have a venue so obviously the get together is a very amateur affair and the "national convention" most likely won't host more than 700 people which is chicken feed compared to La Raza and NAACP meetings and even doesn't live up to Hispanic Chamber of Commerce business and/or the African-American frat that is threatening to cancel on Kansas City because of the Minuteman.

Put simply, the Minutemen aren't worth losing money over and their trouble finding a venue for their joke of a conference is evidence of that . . . Sadly, Mayor Funky is willing to sacrifice what little political leverage he holds for the sake of the group.

  1. Don't worry Tony they'll find a spot. Not everyone knows they are coming.
Businesses love the color of green. No matter who the group is.

Is there a connection between MS-13 and the La Raza?

  2. 2000 people were on their feet for Frances Semler last night at the Uptown Theater with KCMO 710. I'm shocked the guy in Mom's basement didn't report that on his very important blog.

But then, it's contrary to his message.

Oh well, Tony. Keep clinging to the 30 that show up to your activist protests and continue to ignore what the majority of Kansas City knows to be true. It's good for a laugh.

  3. Paintman are you the same guy who endorsed Jason Kander for State Rep earlier today? I want to make sure because I know people screw with IDs on blogs from time to time.

Is he the pro-life candidate? Do you know his views on wetbacks? Is he good there too?

  4. 710 NEVER had an event that attracted 2000 people. Keep paying with your message boards radio jerks.

  6. That's not true about the 710 event anon 8:19. There was a good crowd there. All from Johnson County and a few from Wyandotte not very many midtown people there and most people I talked with wondered why they chose such a bad location and a dangerous parking lot. I once went to an Indigo Girls show at the same place that had more people cheering then for Semler but she got some golf claps.

Dave Ramsey went over much better than the political talk. When it comes down to it more people are concerned with their money.

  9. Paintman,

You are going to get the kind of post you got last night from the Jason Kander campaign. They seem to think it is aggressive campaigning or maybe they are showing that they are hip enough to work the blogs. You are right they just end up looking like fools. They are spreading out all over the local blogs trying to twist posts around in their favor, and I am already tired of seeing it. I think it is going to be a long year.

  10. Jock is right. I drove by the Uptown Theatre on Wednesday night as the 710-AM event was ending and couldn't understand, at first, why all these fat white women in polyester stretch pants, bad perms, cheap costume jewelry and $10 Payless shoes were pouring out of the front door. At first I thought it might have been a Sandi Patti concert, but then I saw the marquee and understood: It was the Johnson County fans of right-wing bitchetta Laura Ingraham. I did a quick spin through the parking lot across the street and 90 percent of the cars had Kansas plates.

  11. 11:04 anon: I've got to call bullshit on that. Although the Sandi Patti reference is funny. The Payless shoe crowd is hardly 710s demographic.
