Every time the Minutemen whine about being accused of racism they bring out some talking monkey by the name of Al Garza. Just like any professional "Hispanic" he notes his ethnicity at every turn (TKC only states he is KC's most important Latino every 14th post) . . . In his recent Star editorial he invokes his background while defending ARMED, UNSANCTIONED ACTION against people who share his heritage. The word I'm looking for in Spanish is vendido . . . And it's not that I deny anyone the right to their own (stupid) opinion but as far as the mainstream sentiment in the Latino community goes: Garza stands by himself when compared to MILLIONS of Latinos who have taken to the street to plead for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Garza is worse than guy's like Ward Connelly in the Black community because he truly represents a fringe element in the discourse regarding immigration. Put simply, to hold up people like Garza or groups like "You don't speak for me" who have virtually no credibility, support or history of involvement within the communities they claim to represent in order to gauge opinion in the Latino Community (i.e. feeble attempts to divide and conquer) is not only irresponsible but a complete misrepresentation of a much larger group that has taken to the street and stood with Latino leaders in rebuking the actions and rhetoric of vigilantes.

ReplyDeleteyou are saying the star is racist so is dos mundos they are one way there is nothing about the convention in san diego where the senator from san diego mark wyland is a card carring member of the minute men. look it up mark wyland california la raza can hold there convention there but not kc why
ReplyDeleteYes, some of the people in Kansas City do care about treating all people regardless of the last name they might have or skin color with dignity and respect. We treat our animals better than what people are saying about the Hispanic people. We should be ashamed of ourselves. And I for one would welcome added revenue from the NCLR convention and the NAACP, but not from the Vigilantes like the minuteman group. We need to look at what we are doing to our community, we have regressed instead of going forward in welcoming hard working people.
ReplyDeleteBecause they never cared about coming to KC. Conventions rarely come to the same city twice, and rarely pick KC over southern california.
ReplyDeleteThey'll be greeted as kings 5 miles from the mexican border. Let them spend a week telling reconquista stories there.
9:34 Why don't you know the difference between "there" and "their". You lose all credibility when you have not mastered 2nd grade English. You complain about people speaking another language - yet you haven't even mastered your own. You are voting against your own interests, if you actually go out and vote, which I seriously doubt. This whole controversy is manufactured by the right wing because they have nothing else to campaign on - gay marriage is out because too many of them are being "outed", fiscal responsbility is out - our national debt is stratospheric. They can't campaign on education because their base is barely literate.
ReplyDeleteIf you are reading Tony's blog, credibility isn't the motivating factor. People who criticize poor English on a blog don't have much credibility either.
ReplyDeleteActually armed action to protect the United States is sanctioned. Try reading the constitution.
ReplyDeleteThe thing to take from this is that it was all a shakedown.
ReplyDeleteThey ended up going to one of the most anti-immigrant counties in the country, SD county, which has Representatives (as well as Congressman Hunter) who isn't exactly pro mexican.
The group doesn't want reconciliation or middle ground, they just want headlines. There is no other reason to complain that they are leaving KC because it is racist then go a place that is more hostile.
Guarantee you that in a few months the convention in SD will be all about how evil and racist SD is and they will have their new Francis Semler's neck up on the sacrificial chopping block.
Luckily for La Raza they already have fodder for their new Semler- a number of people on the parks board in SD want to paint over a Aztlan mural in Balboa park. That should be good to spit some hate over.
So basically, if a Hispanic doesn't agree with your views on illegal immigration then he isn't Hispanic? Maybe he represents Hispanics better than you!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you know. There is no Hispanic better than Tony. He is the most important Latino in Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
7:44 pm Anonymous just put Tony in his place.
ReplyDeleteBTW, if you're white and don't agree with me, then fuck off because you aren't white per Tony's racial purity rationale.
