Rumors of scandal doesn't prevent profs from getting promotion. The Star reports: The interim provost at the time, Bruce S. Bubacz, advised newly hired Chancellor Guy Bailey to promote the men, telling him in a letter that he was making the recommendation “with the support of the Campus Promotion & Tenure Committee.”
Bubacz this week acknowledged that he disregarded the vote of the promotion and tenure committee . . . The promotions and raises took place against the backdrop of allegations made by a professor in the psychology department, Linda Garavalia, and a former graduate student in the department, Megan Pinkston-Camp, that Haddock and Poston sexually harassed and physically threatened employees of the department’s Health Research Group laboratory.
After failing to obtain redress through the university, the two women sued UMKC in July 2006. Two weeks ago, The Star reported that the university had agreed to settle the suit for $1.1 million. UMKC has since reopened its internal investigation, which some psychology faculty members had deemed inadequate.

As much as this story means exactly -squat- here's a couple of observations.
ReplyDelete1. The student with the hyphenated name cannot be believed since she obviously can't decide on her own identity. Can you say schizo? All women I've met that hyphenate display disturbing mental problems. Was this chick a student or a patient?
2. Psychology professor? Enough said. She's probably just looking for the payoff since she can't get some wacky, squishy book published.

ReplyDeleteThe former provost and the current chancellor make a great pair of liars. Just submit a quick public records request for their expenditures and you'll get an idea on how all of the things these blowhards have gotten away with.
