It's a good week to be Irish in KC

IrishKC is on fire as of late . . . Here are all of the reasons you should visit the guy's site:

1) Eddie Delahunt's "Cafe &" celebrates its 1st birthday all week (June 11-16) - culminating in a live performance there on Thursday evening 7-ish.

2) Bloomsday Books in posh Crestwood has its 13th annual Bloomsday festival thing on Sat, June 16, celebrating a book by - no, not burning it - FREE beer, food, live Irish music, readings from the book, and the play based on the book and performed by actors dotted among the crowd.

3) 120th anniversary of Irish shop Browne's Irish Market & Deli - reputedly, and incredibly, the oldest Irish business in North America - cue a big street Irish festival for Westport (33rd and Penn), on Sat, June 16.

So, get ready for the second biggest Irish week of the year that you'll actually remember because St. Paddy's Day is really for the liquor industry.

Comments

  1. Just to note for anybody who sees the ad for the Bloomsday Party in the Midwest Irish Focus- the address there is wrong - the event is NOT downtown, it is at Crestwood, which is the 55th Street block between Brookside Blvd and Oak - the one with Aixois on the corner.
