More importantly, is anybody paying from Prime Buzz? All things considered, the Star's political offerings have been a mixed bag (nullus) and they don't seem halfway as successful as Crime Scene KC which still has comment threads that number in the hundreds and seems to have built a pretty solid community (which is most of what this bloggy thing is all about). Anyway, the story here is that the Star is supposedly killing the Buzz Blog (Even though I read posts as late as yesterday) but they really haven't put much effort into it since Prime Buzz debuted. Rather than trying to squeeze every dime out dead trees or subscriptions (good luck) I'm really surprised The Star hasn't relied on the great number of unwashed web denizens in order to work out a profit model . . . Sadly, it seems to me like it's a case misguided perceptions . . . When it comes to crime, folks might be able to have a say in their coverage but political information and opinion is kept out of the hands of the masses . . . That's a typical big media attitude and ignores the success of blogs like Daily Kos.

Having comment threads numbering in the hundreds is a fallacious way to measure success. Most of the comments on KC Crime Scene run much like your posts, Tony, full of race baiting and lacking any real dialogue .
ReplyDeleteI agree. KC Crime Scene is full of easily-shocked, latently racist 40-somethings who are just proud of themselves for knowing how to use a web browser.
ReplyDeleteplus, the hilarity of "This is what happens when you take Jesus out of..." hipster idiots.
ReplyDeleteIt never stops being funny, people, never.
