"What I Learned From Missouri"

A very informed and well reasoned rant from some woman: "Anti-abortion activists want to discourage single women from having sex, with the threat of an unwanted pregnancy. The fact that birth control pills would actually avert abortions is insignificant to them. What do a few fetal lives matter when you're trying to stop women from having sex before marriage?" Personally, I gave up on the abortion argument years ago . . . It's hard enough to convince a woman to make me a sandwich let alone tell her what to do with her plumbing.

  1. Pretty obtuse if you ask me.

    1) Catholics oppose the pill, so they would oppose any plan that gives away freebie pills to people.

    2) The pill is expensive. It is also one of a plethora of anti-pregnancy choices. I don't think somebody who is getting free care should be able to choose their method. Why not free $300 infertility shots?

    3) I don't think I like the idea of the government paying for or subsidizing ANY measure that could been seen as eugenics. Birth control, while necessary for most people, has a shameful past with it's roots in the late 19th-early 20th century eugenic movement.
