nah, there won't be performers either. yeah, they said we could still perform, but only in certain areas. 5 feet away from the road - in the middle of the sidewalk, 20 feet from any doorway to any business (open or closed) and 20 feet from any bus stop, outdoor cafe, patio, atm or bank.
ReplyDeleteNot being a math wizard I went out there with my tape measure and checked. They effectively banned performing and panhandling. The cops aren't going to let people stand in the middle of the sidewalk, especially if you don't fit in with the area aesthetics.
On the upside, well to do people won't be troubled by accidentally seeing a poor person while they shop. They've even managed to move those dangerous and aggressive panhandlers out of their parts of town and into other less affluent ones. After all, they're easier to ignore if you group the undesirables together and out of sight.

ReplyDeleteI've noticed the Plaza is infested with them now, maybe they'll leave downtown. They are all professionals anyway.
They shouldn't let you stand in the middle of the sidewalk, loitering, hassling people.
