White People are Walking Targets

I'm really surprised that the story of the shooting of some random white guy heading toward Swope Parkway didn't get more play in the media. Notice that I wrote that the white guy was random and not the shooting because gun violence on the Eastside is more commonplace than anything else.

Still, I don't hear any solutions or workable plans coming from City Hall or anywhere else. The recent spate of summer violence (that everyone but the Star's editorial board expected) hasn't yet been called a trend but we'll see how gully this weekend gets before some good old fashioned media hysteria finally develops. In the meantime, I'd advise that you stay alert when you head out east and possibly look into finding a more conveniently and safely located drug dealer, Black friend, payday lender, etc.
