Recently, two condominium buildings planned for the River Market East redevelopment have been disregarded and instead the new strategy is reportedly to build 27 detached houses.
The $10 million project would be about one block east of the City Market and immediately west of Bridgeworks Lofts, a new 47-unit condo complex recently completed by Birt at Fifth and Locust streets. The houses will range in size from 1,500 square feet to 1,700 square feet, and the prices are anticipated to be from $350,000 to $450,000.So if you have nearly a half a million dollars laying around and want to move back to Kansas City proper then you're in luck. Otherwise, you're simply one of the many other KC residents that didn't exactly realize that Country Club Kay's plan to revive neighborhoods in KC was to build new ones for very, very rich people.

ReplyDelete$450k for a 1,500sf house comes to about $300/sf. That is VERY HIGH. I mean $300/sf buys the highest-end you can get. Also, 1,500sf is going to be a very small house. We're talking 1 Master Bedroom and bath and 1 regular bedroom. I can't believe anyone would take this seriously, what downtown needs is density. At least build rowhouses. Jeez.
