Channel 9 could be the only local MSM outlet not on the Stadium Tax payroll. They have not only shown their journalistic chops by providing honest analysis of the issue but also for having the guts to be the one of the first major news organizations (second only to the sports radio guys) to provide an editorial critical of the rolling roof rip-off. Sure, the editorial is even handed and not exactly a scathing critique but it's a welcome change than the sweetheart coverage The Star has been giving the costly, unfair and unwise initiative.

I saw that editorial. I wanted to give it a standing ovation.
ReplyDeleteGodsey is a proponent of honesty and level handedness. I first noticed him during one of the Mayor's attempts to get a strangle hold on the right of petition in Kansas City. He is a protector of the petition rights, considered part of our freedom of speech which is what allows for TV, radio and print media to exist. He knows that with a freedom goes responsibility, and he steps up to the plate even when the message is a hard one. Send Channel 9 a thank you.
ReplyDeleteRight now, as we speak, someone is being called into Kathryn Shields' office and having his ass chewed for forgetting to buy out EVERY news outlet in town.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever happened to the Pitch? In the days of Tony O. you could count on Pitch Weekly to be out in the forefront of opposing this type of thing, but now they seem more preoccupied with running counter-culture stories that no one reads.
ReplyDeleteYou know that Agar on KMBZ has been vehemently against the tax. Since day 1!!!
