The UMB Bank at 79th and Wornall is now the ATM of choice for Eastsiders. Actually, there's nothing funny about the death of a security guard who was more than 70 years old during the robbery. As we head into warmer weather Wornall is poised to maintain its reputation as the ugliest street in Kansas City for both aesthetic and demographic reasons.

My roommate works right next door to this bank. When he went to work that day, he said there were more News vans than cop cars. Bunch a vultures!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see a "Security Guard" anywhere who makes me think "Oh shit! I don't want to cross HIM/HER!"
ReplyDeleteTheir only job is to sit there with their embroidered badges and call the cops if anything serious goes down.
Otherwise, they just shuffle street people from the main entrances.
Funny thing is, they all THINK they are Uber Cops. Lots of ego, little authority, and even less firepower.
I smoke, I cough constantly, I'm short of breath, and even I could take 90% of the Security Guards I've seen.
