No one in their right mind would go there, and the blacks will make sure crime will be there waiting for you if you do start going there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-56238573896606871632017-08-12T21:36:03.976-05:002017-08-12T21:36:03.976-05:00Kansas City enjoyed a measure of jazz music renown...Kansas City enjoyed a measure of jazz music renown in the 1920s and early 1930s, primarily because of its location as a stopping point on both major Jazz Railroad routes (New Orleans/Chicago and New York/Los Angeles). It was a good place to play a few gigs and pick up a few extra bucks en route to any of the major venues.

A few outstanding musicians developed their skills here and rapidly moved on to other, more important locations where they could actually build a reputation and audience. Jazz has since moved on from the bebop era, but the jazz scene here seems unaware of that fact.

It might help matters if the "Half-The-History-Of-Jazz" Museum would tone down its monochrome Racism and offer at least token recognition of the wide spectrum of Jazz Music (Latin Jazz and Big Band sounds, for instance). Until that happens, their efforts will remain directed solely at 27% (maybe) of KCs population, with 100% expected to pickup the costs of the African-American Community's disinterest and ongoing dubious Management practices.

Rather than moving the Jazz Festival to Liberty Memorial, wouldn't it be more sensible and efficient to relocate the entire Museum Complex (both Jazz and Baseball) to the Power and Light Drunk Tank? That way the City could watch all its rotten eggs fail at once, and might be able to save a few cents by writing fewer checks to cover the total losses!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-53431904047746269182017-08-12T20:51:30.223-05:002017-08-12T20:51:30.223-05:00The blacks don't want white people down at 18t...The blacks don't want white people down at 18th and vine. The baseball museum is not very informative, the jazz museum is OK but doesn't take more than an hour tops to visit, and there are few restaurants or bars. I don't know what was planned, but it had to be more than this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-66795488212756429712017-08-12T18:56:54.493-05:002017-08-12T18:56:54.493-05:00Finally a KC Star editorial most people can agree ...Finally a KC Star editorial most people can agree with.
