Ms. Pitts is an outstanding teacher and has dedicated her career to the children of HMSD - no matter their race, income or home life. She has her pulse on the community and understands the uphill battle these kids have. She's been a part of the community and district for decades and has a lot of wisdom and insight. On the other had we have Mr. Carpenter (Carpetbagger) who lands in town with is snake-oil fixes while consistently dismissing the opinions and ideas of the district's long time employees. His fixes involve running up debt on his pet, resume building projects as he passes through from Georgia on to the next offer - absolutely NO commitment to the community and district. Does he even live in the district? Does he send his kids to the district?
Thank you Ms. Pitts for your dedication, service and love of kids - this was obviously a career of service and passion for you as you gave to others. You are heads and shoulders above your boss!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-54344693174016125922016-10-12T03:27:17.977-05:002016-10-12T03:27:17.977-05:00Poorer districts preform...poorly. Bought my first house in the Hickman Mills district (it was home), but soon realized it was no longer the p!ace to live.

Kids will perform academically only when helped/motivated by their parents. There is no such thing as being too tired to help your kids, period. If you are not up to the task, get fixed to prevent a childbirth & adopt if you ever develop the desire to raise a child.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-7556530466064797322016-10-11T16:06:01.308-05:002016-10-11T16:06:01.308-05:00Nothing new so why is this a story? Why is this school district so much better then KCK, Grandview and KCPS?

Poorer districts preform...poorly. Nothing new. I'm sure most if not all of those parents will happily live on 107th and Blue Ridge. Now, except in a few high-income zip codes, they are decaying shit holes like you used to see only in the South. Kids are neglected. In the book "Coming Apart", Charles Murray describes the difference between the classes, and it is becoming worse, not better. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
