The City hates personal interaction in that it's mostly unwalkable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-83203320879720481042014-05-14T17:42:57.899-05:002014-05-14T17:42:57.899-05:00I think it depends on what you want. No one here cares about what you do till you give people a reason to get up in your business. It is very very small. Everyone knows everyone. Also, many people are related. So it is a very very small spread out big town. The majority of people are easy going, but education and class are big barriers. People generally don't care about each other, and that seems fine.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-88344767876750374322014-05-14T17:15:06.556-05:002014-05-14T17:15:06.556-05:00A lot of people are kind of simple. That's how I explain KC to people.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-76422533373753790452014-05-14T17:06:32.905-05:002014-05-14T17:06:32.905-05:00In St. Louis if you didn't grow up there and d...In St. Louis if you didn't grow up there and didn't go to the right high school NO ONE will speak to you.

Um it's exactly the same in KC. Probably worse in some ways. It's really tough trying get taken seriously here. Everything in this city from neighborhoods to big biz is run by cliques. Folks here act like KC is this pace setting, thriving metroplex. Give it a break! Whatever it was that made KC a happening town did long ago. Today KC is a place where people suffer from terrible government, high taxes, a broken school system, racial animosity, a low standard of living, a hunger for arts and entertainment that don't exist and the exhaustion of 60 hour work weeks. Not a damn thing special period.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-5815194909071264612014-05-14T15:24:22.735-05:002014-05-14T15:24:22.735-05:00I think the city needs to build a visitor's ce...I think the city needs to build a visitor's center at 31st and Prospect.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-26039841761997745222014-05-14T15:05:35.047-05:002014-05-14T15:05:35.047-05:00I'm not really sure what "the built envir...I'm not really sure what "the built environment" has to do with how friendly residents are to strangers. It sounds like yet another approach by the urban futurist industrial complex to convince the airheads at city hall to spend a few more hundred million on the latest scheme to prevent KCMO from "being left behind".
One thing you CAN say about downtown KCMO is that it has to be one of most sterile and human unfriendly places you can find and even the new buildings have huge solid blank walls that aren't exactly welcoming.
Maybe a few planters, some trees with lights, and more rah rah from Sly would help.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-63709261795781761032014-05-14T14:55:17.549-05:002014-05-14T14:55:17.549-05:00114 bodies say were ain't too kindly114 bodies say were ain't too kindlyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-14655632523436922282014-05-14T14:53:12.169-05:002014-05-14T14:53:12.169-05:00WELCOME TO DETROITWELCOME TO DETROITWELCOME TO DETROIThttp://chimpmania.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=27410&d=1355499201&thumb=1noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10849017.post-28311509915155806642014-05-14T14:20:17.467-05:002014-05-14T14:20:17.467-05:00Kansas City is much friendlier to strangers than S...Kansas City is much friendlier to strangers than St. Louis.
