TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! COUNCILMAN QUINTON LUCAS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES KANSAS CITY MAYORAL RUN!!!

He has served as one of the most impressive and qualified candidates the 3rd District in Kansas City has ever seen and today he ends speculation about his political future.

To wit . . .

FIRST ON TKC, COUNCILMAN QUINTON LUCAS LAUNCHES HIS KANSAS CITY MAYORAL BID!!!

Even better . . .

HERE'S THE QUINTON LUCAS CAMPAIGN VIDEO SEEN FIRST ON TKC!!!

Take a look:

A statement he offered today in front of a packed house at an urban core health food store . . .

"The things I’ve done haven’t been flashy. I don’t have a lot of followers on Twitter. I haven’t had a photo shoot or a party lately. I don’t know how to do a podcast. I’m not famous or wealthy, but what I am is a child of this community. I’m someone who recognizes why City Hall matters to each and every one of us. I recognize how that job opportunity that we help create can change a life for a family, in our own community. I recognize how the choices we make each day—from my work to create more accountability on city contracts to my work to help people, particularly senior citizens, afford minor home repair so that they can stay in their homes and our communities—have a profound impact in all Kansas City neighborhoods."

Here's even more perspective from the councilman about what he has accomplished in KCMO so far . . .

Quinton Lucas: "Early on in my term, I stood with our public safety folks, in the police and fire departments to ensure their compensation was competitive, not just with other public safety workers in our area, but nationally, to ensure that they invested in Kansas City long-term and to ensure we were investing in them and their families long term. And I stand with our city employees today for better compensation for those who work in our sewers, or hear complaints about abusive landlords, or those helping address the basic services you our taxpayers expect us to fix each day.

"More recently, the desire to “do” showed up when we were talking yet again about Downtown development and I saw that the City had no definition of affordable housing, so it was claiming that $1,600 or $1,800 per month units fit the description. After learning that, I introduced - and got passed unanimously - a law that lowered the amount at which we can define affordable housing and directs city staff to develop a formula that directs incentives to projects that support people and families—working class families—who are most in need . . ."

Here's the official word for an elected official who has garnered support and enthusiasm from voters throughout Kansas City and across the metro . . .

QUINTON LUCAS ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR MAYOR

KANSAS CITY, MO, June 23, 2018 - Quinton Lucas, Kansas City Councilman, today announced his candidacy for Mayor of Kansas City. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Lucas went from experiencing homelessness as a child to attending an Ivy League law school and becoming one of the youngest tenure-track law professors in the United States. As the only candidate who has
demonstrated strong representation of all neighborhoods in Kansas City, Lucas will continue to champion quality housing, job growth, government accountability, and public safety.

Lucas was raised by a single mother and two older sisters in Kansas City’s urban core. Despite experiencing homelessness as a child and moving frequently, Lucas worked to obtain academic scholarships to high school, college, and ultimately law school at Cornell University. After graduating, Lucas turned down job offers at large law firms in New York City and Washington, DC to return home to Kansas City. Since then, he has been an accomplished business lawyer and professor at the University of Kansas. A proud teacher, Lucas also volunteers extensively in the community at area prisons and schools. Although he never met his own father, Lucas regularly mentors young men and women – often in the very neighborhoods where he grew up – to help young people recognize and achieve their potential.

Lucas was elected citywide in 2015 and has since been a leading voice on the Council, working with local businesses to drive private investment and job growth in our city, while also leading efforts to secure quality housing opportunities exist in all Kansas City neighborhoods.

Lucas led a landmark reform of the City’s tax incentive policy, helping to return public dollars to schools and libraries in all parts of Kansas City. Lucas has also personally visited with education leaders and citizens from all 15 public school districts in the city’s boundaries. He works each day to make certain the city delivers the basic services taxpayers expect, provides competitive wages to all our municipal employees, and operates in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner on all projects big and small. Lucas has set the standard for open communication by local elected officials and is known for his accessibility and candor on social media.

“Some run to be something; I am running to do something. In the same I way have worked hard each day to build a brighter future for Kansas City , I will ensure we have continued growth and progress. I will make sure that all Kansas City neighborhoods yield the benefits of our city's strength. That means increasing affordable housing options, improving public safety, and ensuring continual transparency and accountability from our city’s government,” said Lucas.

The campaign will host a free community kickoff celebration on Saturday, June 23rd on 3000 Troost Ave. at the locally-owned Ruby Jean’s Juicery (3000 Troost Ave. Kansas City, MO 64109) from 5:00-7:00pm. More information about the campaign can be found at LucasForKC.com.

  1. It'll come down to a fundraising battle now.

Not sure if Kander will be able to draw money from thoguhout the nation like he did with his senate run, after all, there's not a lot that KC has to offer in return and it's not like there's any real secret to securing tax breaks.

  2. Really glad to see that it is finally confirmed. While the rest of the Council was diving in the dirt and really saying some nasty things about each other, Quinton has been working on efforts that are solid and have real impact on KC. He knows the legislative process better than most on the counicl and he has had time to make the right contacts. He will be a fine Mayor and somebody who can finally bring some responsibility back to KCMO City Hall.

    1. If Quinton plays it cool, he'll win this thing without breaking a sweat. Watching the other campaigns dance around and panic will be interesting.

  3. I'll give one thing to his credit, Quinton now completely makes Jolie Justus irrelevant. At least he did KC a favor that way.

    1. Not so fast. Jolie eats a lot of pussy. She eats more pussy than all the other candidates combined.

  4. Probably the best so far. But there are going to be more entering the race. I'm guessing that we could have a dozen before it's all over.

Actually, really like what he has done so far. Might be the easy choice for a lot of voters who don't want to see city hall given away to developers but also don't want to dwell on all this SJW stuff from the like of Mayor Sly and his DNC pals like Kander.

  9. We need a white mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Note what he drives now... could be a new car in his future.

    Hopefully with current tags.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Maybe we could save time by announcing who ISN'T running for mayor.

  12. Ruby Jean’s Juicery, can't be anymore black only than that. Meanwhile Potus was overheard saying "Oh Fuck Me, another loser joins the race." upon hearing this news.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Lucas states, "And I stand with our city employees today for better compensation". Does he stand with city employees to get the failed infrastructure fixed or will he ignore it like Slie does? He definitely needs to support an audit of the water department.
He says he is running to do something but I guess time will tell if he is from the same mold as the others.

  14. I’m a cop and I usually vote republican. I honestly believe that Lucas is the right man for the job and will gladly support his campaign.

  15. We'll obviously he can't run on a no new taxes no new tax incentives platform. That would be lying.

  16. I’m a lesbian and a cop and I usually vote Democratic. I will vote for the best candidate and that is Jolie Justus.

  17. The city council is the IAFF, they own this city bitches!! We are heros because we respond to your meyhem, but at the end of the day weither we save one citizen or not, we really dont care as long as the dumb voters buy into our propaganda and through our union we have the utmost confidence the mobster IAFF will never take us off the tit! We vote Democrate and we are told too - sorry as a 20 year veteran of KCFD and the IAFF I had to put this out there. I have 6 months to live so I wanted the people of this city to know the truth.

  18. If he's smart he'll let east kc get run down until he can claim eminent domain and sell it all off to out of state developers for pennies on the dollar. Then rename Troost to Lucas Avenue.

  19. ANOTHER black Democrat mayor for KC..Woo Hoo!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jolie cancelled her fundraisers. She stays put and helps Kander in the race. Bet money that she sold her soul for Pro-Tem.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Here' the real deal.
Kander and Lucas get to run against each other and then get together and decide who should become the mayor and which should make believe they're a real estate developer and propose a huge project that has no financing except for what they can from the taxpayers.
Of course, which ever of the two have become mayor will play along with the deal.
One becomes a millionaire on the taxpayers' dime and the other gets to try to launch a political career.
Worked once before and the 10% of KCMO voters who will actually participate in the next mayoral election don't even remember.
Which shell is the pea under today?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Great, more black politicians telling us how they are going to make things better.

Democrat cities with black mayors are economic disasters with high crime.

So, meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Quinton doesn’t have any balls

    ReplyDelete
  24. Have you heard the good news?

    He is risen.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Kander is too close to Sly James.

    ReplyDelete
  26. In celebration of Lucas running for mayor his close friends go out and kill somebody tonight, #54 bitches!

“Police are investigating after one adult black male was shot inside a residence and declared deceased by paramedics at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Police are looking for one black male suspect that left the house after the shooting.”

Getting the party started early boys!

  27. Somebody mentioned the two Scotts. I will vote for both of them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think it is time for a woman. Jolie will be a good mayor with compassion

    ReplyDelete
  29. Jolie would be a disaster. She has never shown compassion, or even idle curiosity, for her constituents. Cordish rules KC, losers.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lucas is a solid choice. He's got my vote. Way better than that phony carpetbagger Kander.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ^^Idiot. You don't have a choice.

They all work for the same employer.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Make

  33. There's no doubt he's one of the better Third District at-large Council people we've ever had but I'm not sure if that will translate to his skills as a potential mayoral candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The LAST thing this city needs is another black politician who has never owned a private business or made payroll trying to run on the idea of efficient government.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I’ve worked up close to Quinton he’s arrogant, aloof and lives with a sense of entitlement. He has the Ivy League education and will exploit the poor childhood story at every turn. He’s very used to being the teachers pet and the smartest (so he thinks) person in the room. Unfortunately, I can report after a first several meetings with him, he’s just another shallow politician wanting self-acceptance through the ballot box.
