SHOCK!!! KANDER CONFIRMS AND 4TH DISTRICT COUNCIL JOLIE JUSTUS CALLS IT QUITS ON KANSAS CITY MAYORAL RUN!!!

Already, Jason Kander has done Kansas City a great service by limiting the field of contenders and getting people to refocus on neighborhoods.

Take a look:

KCUR: Jason Kander Confirms Run For Kansas City Mayor, Justus Out

Deets:

After news of Kander's announcement broke, City Councilwoman Jolie Justus said she will withdraw from the mayoral race. Instead, she said she will focus on defending her 4th District Council seat and will support Kander for mayor.

Here's more from her campaign kaput statement:

"Over the last year a growing number of people have also answered the call to lead and joined the mayor’s race with me. Six current council members are in the race along with a growing list of people who all want to see Kansas City continue to thrive. After careful consideration, I have decided that I will not run for mayor and instead run for re-election as your Fourth District Councilperson.

"This was not an easy decision for me. Ultimately everything kept coming back to one simple question: “What is the best thing for Kansas City?” It would be easy to put my own interests first and turn this election cycle into a long, expensive, and divisive fight. In my view that doesn't serve the best interests of the people of Kansas City. Instead, I'm putting Kansas City first.

"I'm choosing to run for re-election and work together with Jason Kander to build on the success we've enjoyed under Mayor James and tackle the challenges that still remain. I've known Jason for a long time and we share a common vision for the future of our city. I look forward to the future we create together."

The next Mayor of Kansas City will need a hard working council with the ability to build consensus and lead this city into the future. I want to be a leader of that team. I hope you will join me as we keep our city moving forward.

You decide . . .

  1. Bravo Jason!

The bad thing is, she is now at risk of losing the 4th District with so many other candidates.

  2. ^^^ How is that a bad thing?

  3. She would have had a very tough battle, given her well-known tendency to give developers and other grifters free reign in spite of what her constituents wanted.

  4. She has done nothing for her district.

  5. ^^You have done nothing for society.

  6. @ 10:33 we can't say that about you, you're polluting the shit out of society! Grow up, this isn't the fourth grade!

  7. Jolie eats a lot of pussy. She can still eat a lot of pussy as 4th District Council member but it is not as good as having a mayor that eats a lot of pussy.

  10. Keep trying, @ 10:44, maybe you'll convince somebody that Jolie isn't hetero, but you're going to have a problem with her drunken shenanigans!
Once again this Saturday she was crawling around Westport, desperately trying to pick up any male she could, no luck, or course.
Nobody was that drunk or desperate, so she finally left.

Or is he too busy tweeting Restaurant reviews?

  14. Weird. Doesn't Kander live in Overland Park? Does KC have no residency requirement?

  15. @11:07-I'm sorry you're a bartender. Maybe you should have paid attention in school.

  16. 11:13 (#1): No, he does not live in Overland Park.

  17. Diana Kander is not happy about this. She wanted to go to Washington.

There will be less orgasms for the Kanders now!

  18. The blacks won't vote for Kander. If he loses this one he is politically finished. Awful big risk for such a small reward, compared to being a Senator.

  19. ^^except you're fat, bald broke and ugly as shit. So there's that!

  20. We really need a white mayor.

  21. Somebody, anybody from the 4th District in the Northland, PLEASE RUN AGAINST JOLIE. We were gerrymandered out of our original district and shoved into the 4th District which is almost completely south of the river. They have NOTHING in common with our residents. We are a DIVERSE part of KCMO, and we have different issues than the mostly wealthy part of KC that hugs the state line. Someone who actually lives up here and is aware of our needs, should run for the council seat. Please - no more Jolie.

  22. ^^Totally agree.

  23. What is the name of her campaign committee?
Does she need, ethically, to return those funds and start a new committee just for IN DISTRICT WARD 4???

Many of the developers who wrote her checks only did so with the understanding and promise she was running for MAYOR.

  24. 12:14 +1000!

Jolie's for sale to the highest bidder; her constituents don't have a chance.

  25. Tracy-what's ethics got to do with our local government?

  26. ^ Excellent question that even the bull horn of Slie, Go4KC, cannot answer.

  27. kander will win. he'll be good at it.

above all, he'll have star power, which will benefit kc as much as it benefits his own ambitions. having him on the national stage, as no doubt he'll engineer, will be good.

    that's why this is a win-win.

  28. Kander stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm a bartender also in KC but I do it part time for extra money so I see a few "important" people running around from time to time also. Nothing wrong with that occupation its just extra money to me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. My Shook, Hardy and Bacon handlers knew they’d lose political control without placing me in some government position to benefit them. So like Hillary I’m just going to run and run and run for the money interests till it runs out.
