Kraske Second Guesses KCPD

Local pundit shares perspective on recent officer-involved shooting from behind the safety of his keyboard. Read more:

KC police got it half right when officers shot a woman wielding a decorative sword

I've been thinking about the police killing of Ashley Simonetti this week because on the face of it, the shooting in Kansas City's Northland seemed so unnecessary. Simonetti was running around the neighborhood half-naked in a stolen bridesmaid's dress, armed with a decorative sword. Reporters described the scene as surreal.

  1. If Kraske EVAR gets anything "Half Right" then I guarantee that all 25,000,000 visitors to Kansas City will all win the Lottery on the same day they ride the Toy Train.

And, they won't have to buy a ticket.

  3. Kraske could do his part to save the Star by saving paper space and writing ONE column that:
Whips up clueless people to search high and low for Confederate statues and destroy them.
Constantly question the actions of the police, while never considering the irresponsible self-destructive behaviors of the people they have to deal with day after day.
Slobber over Jason Kander and his candidacy for whatever he has chosen for himself today.
Kraske is just another lemming-like Star columnist, and incredibly a member of the editorial board, who hasn't had an original idea in decades and has come to view his job as pandering to every elected official, activist, and politician wannabe who comes along.
He's a perfect fit for the "world class" city that Sly and the other fantacists like Go4KC endlessly bleat about.
William Rockhill Nelson must be rolling over in his grave.

  5. "With more time, family members might have been called to talk to her. Maybe the man I talked to Wednesday who said he was her boyfriend could have helped."
If that is the case they should have helped sooner.

"A woman identified as Simonetti's mother would say on social media that her daughter had mental problems and that the family had tried everything to help her. If the system failed her, as it so often fails others, hard questions should be asked."
Nobody wants to accept responsibility and instead blame something else. Maybe she failed the system and it cost her.

  6. No fan of Kraske nor the Star. In this case, I agree that it shouldn't have come to this. Enough blame to go around. Not blaming the threatened officers one bit. Sad this was the final ending.

  7. Jesus, who reads the Star, and worse yet, who cares enough to comment? Oh I see, the 6 geriatrics above.

  8. The geriatrics, as you refer to them, are probably hard working retired folks that actually do give a shit and their opinions matter.
You, on the other hand, are probably an unemployed piece of feces and nobody that reads this blog gives a fuck what you say, so please do is all a favor and kill yourself asap.

  10. Cops are pussies. They'd shoot a fly if it buzzed too closely. They'll shoot anything that startles them -- which is just about everything in this world since they are the shut-in types, live in grandparents' basements, and collect serial killer memorabilia.

  11. Next time drive to Walmart and buy a cargo net and then throw it over the nutcase.

  12. Can you imagine the screaming all these basement dwelling trolls would be doing if the Police hadn't sot this crazy drugged up Bitch, and she had hacked up one of the neighbors or even worse, one of the neighborhood kids?

She was abandoned to her fate by her family, used and dumped by half a dozen "boyfriends", she used everything you can shoot, swallow, smoke or rub on your belly to get high, then in a brief moment of clarity she saw what she had become and committed "Suicide by Cop" - end of story!

  13. "hard working retired folks" Now that is some funny shit right there!

  14. Can you imagine a world where lonely geriatrics didn't spend all of their worthless days posting worthless comments about worthless things on a worthless blog?

  15. Well, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that after a "second look" this hack has given his blessing that KCPD had no choice in the actions that were taken. What a sanctimonious jerk.
