Kansas City Bike Lanes On The Paseo: Broke

One again there's not enough money for an ambitious plan along one of Kansas City's most hotly contest boulevards. Read more:

City leaders planning 19-mile bike lane along the Paseo but still looking for full funding

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Cyclists on the Paseo might have a new bike lane coming soon, but dollars might cause a delay. Kansas City's Department of Public Works is planning the metro's longest bike lane. It's expected to cover more than 19 road miles of the Paseo, stretching from Independence Avenue all the way to 85th Street.

  4. I have a great idea! lets have the developers pay for it! Wait, what? They don’t pay taxes? Who’s brilliant idea was that?, oh,Thanks sLIE, you want the commoners to pay all the taxes and let the rich people off the hook.

  5. 6:29am makes a really good point about Sly's priorities.
But let's not forget that while Sly is doing everything he can to look out for the one-percenters who benefit from his generosity with taxpayer money, he's also giving speeches about income inequality and hitting the front lines of the $15/hour mob rallies with his bullhorn.
    Hypocrisy at its finest.
After all, Sly's focus has been on what he's planning to run for next for most of his term.

  6. Sly is just a follow the leader type guy, he wants to make Kansas City like some mega metros around the country and that's not going to happen. Kansas City is not that kind of city, it's still a cow town with the small town feel, so all of this giving to the developers, bike lanes and whatever is a huge waste of time, money and space. BTW, do you ever see anyone using those bike lanes?? Especially the ridiculous one on Armour that is causing a huge parking problem because again the cart was put before the horse?

    1. I like the bike lanes and the parking problems. Don't like move ASAP. Can't wait for them to be finished in front of the Bainbridge Apts. Those knuckleheads that live there are going to be some mad sons of bitches. Be happy and enjoy the bike lanes

  9. Take away a lane of traffic on each side and they have reduced time and ease of travel. Congestion and accidents increase. This is not the legacy of MLK.

  10. But, but "Bike/Walk KC" wants this - pay up, damn it!
Give the Bike Nazis everything they want or they'll pout!
Wah, Wah - I'm not getting my way - Wah, Wah (sound of thumb sucking).

  11. Jesus, that was some boring-ass shit right there. Why do you suck so much? Are you a dullard in the real world too? Why aren't your comments more interesting? Do you ever notice when you open your mouth, people walk away?

  12. Screw the bike lanes. They are making busy KC streets less safe for the vast majority of us who need to drive. Have you been down Armour lately? It's nearly impossible to enter from the side streets.

  13. Last year when I saw the plans for this cluster fuck I couldn't believe it. Still can't believe it. Who the fuck signed off on this ?
