TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! BIKEWALKKC DUDE ERIC BUNCH RUNNING FOR COUNCIL IN 4TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE!!! WILL MILITANT CYCLING ACTIVIST BRING RUIN TO KANSAS CITY MOTORISTS?!?

Memorial Day Weekend is the deadliest time of year for drivers but Kansas City car owners confront a far more insidious danger from an aspiring local politico.

Hence . . .

BIKEWALKKC BRO ERIC BUNCH HAS CONFIRMED HIS LUST FOR POWER BY ROLLING INTO THE 4TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE COUNCIL RACE!!!

It's a bold move for this relatively young activist who clearly would rather enjoy the 12th & Oak 70k+ salary than get stuck cleaning up bike racks for the rest of his career.

It would be a mistake to underestimate this Kansas City power player given his recent advocacy throughout Midtown and all of those useless and mostly unused bike-lanes which crowd local streets thanks to the handiwork of progressives who envision a world wherein all po'folk are forced to use public transit.

Speaking of fantasies, youngster Austin Strassle also has declared his hope to compete in the 4th District At-Large contest.

He's a long-shot and probably just trying to make a name for himself in local politics but the Midtown KCMO youth movement reveals a trend . . .

LONGTIME KANSAS CITY POLITICO KATY SHIELDS MUST EITHER RUN FOR MAYOR OR MAKE ONE LAST STAND AGAINST A GRASSROOTS YOUTH MOVEMENT!!!

Despite winning a battle with the Feds during the Bush years, turning around her image after long-ago Jackson County Courthouse drama and keeping a relatively low-profile on Council . . . She's got bills to pay and still not old or relaxed enough to retire.

Ergo . . .

COUNCIL LADY KATY IS SANDWICHED BETWIXT TWO AMBITIOUS YOUNG DUDES AND DESPERATELY SEEKING POLITICAL BREATHING ROOM!!!

Now, back to the biker Bunch bro . . .

A week ago he had his civic coming out party via Ruckus but didn't mention his real ambition beyond callously spinning away KC taxpayer cash powered only by a non-threatening subterfuge and good hair . . .

And now, as we cycle toward the the KCMO silly season we have a transit activist peddling non-profit good deeds as a ticket to Council Chambers wherein real corruption and payouts start rolling in for smart politicos.

Developing . . .

  1. Realize that you're being coy here but Eric is actually a really great person and would be a benefit to the council. He has proven he is willing to do the hard work in for KC at the ground level.

We need more young people running for political office. This is encouraging even though most of us have't been on a bike in decades. LOL!

  3. Shields has the money and business crowd. These guys are just trying to build their resume.

  4. ^^^ Not so fast.

Eric knows more people than he is letting on, he wouldn't have tried this stunt without backing already.

  5. He will be great for the city.

  6. Surely we learned a lesson when Gloria Squitiro was First Spouse, and will not be electing "Kate" Shields as mayor.

  7. They look kind of gay but at least they are white.

  8. Come on, Tony--Kathryn Shields is never desperate. She's just fine. She's noted for working behind the scenes, which is the opposite of most of the current council.

Fun to see some new folks are interested in the council.
Question: have they ever attended even one meeting? Especially if they didn't have an item on the agenda.

Question 2: Do we really need an obsessive with an agenda, trying to serve the whole city--including the silk stocking district? Who needs a Clay Chastain personality, harping about Bikes/Bikes/Bikes? KCMO has far more issues like Streets/Streets/Streets and Crime/Crime/Crime and Sewers/Sewers/Sewers.

Nor do we need the Crossroads Kid, the second guy. Has he ever been even a precinct captain? What is is voting record?

We don't need a silly season of primaries, just as a resume builder. It's a waste of money and yard signs.

What we need is either Shields for Mayor, which will ONLY happen if some of KC's suits start writing some serious checks. Or, for Shields to run for reelection to her at-large 4th District seat. then she can continue to work from the back room or the sidelines because she doesn't have a Sly-sized ego.

We all have the life we are willing to put up with.

What will it be, Kansas City??

    1. Are you kidding me about Shields? She is a monster!!! Go back in your memory to her time at Jackson County. We don’t need that leadership at KCMO.

  10. Tracy,

How are younger people supposed to get involved in politics if they don't run for office?

Never hurts to have some new faces and ideas.
It isn't like we are living in the Garden of Eden here in KCMO.
    Some improvements are needed, badly.

  12. Eric Bunch - Another egotistical dick.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree with Tracy, spot on, why can’t we have a mayor and council that are “obsessive” with doing what needs to be done, the days of sexy projects are over. We need major projects that work for the entire city not shiny new toys that work for 5% of the city.

  14. 12:42, you don't start as City Council at large, you start by working in campaigns, or serving as a precinct captain or as an intern, or on a neighborhood association board or a charitable board, or a business board.

We see over and over that galloping egos want to start at the top, without paying their dues or knowing, in the least, how the organization functions.

You would not believe the folks who ran for little Shawnee City Council without ever having been to one meeting.

Look at the egotistical narcissists filing against Kevin Yoder for Congress, who sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee! These fools have never managed so much a a Scout troop. Want to start at the top.

Then there is Greitens. And there is Trump.

One starts to see the collosal dysfunction they sow, because they don't know how it works. These are ego candidates, first and foremost.

Serving in public office is a learned skill.

And to those who challenge my "right" to speak up? A. Let's check YOUR voting record, and your record of public service and leadership...since you're so busy running your mouth. I have run many campaigns, both in Mo. and Ks. I don't believe I ever read you questioning other campaign staffers who might live in the neighboring state. Or the Chamber leadership, which lives in Kansas. Or Tony, who lives in MO but exerts remarkable community leadership speaking out about people and companies in Kansas. eg. Schlitterbahn.

Now go out to Schlitterbahn and marinate in the collective pee there, (it's not crowded today)--with other white trash know it all cowardly Anon. commenters like yourself. When you grow a set and can sign your work, THEN we can debate.

    1. Will need police assigned just for the bike lanes enforcement . Parking control only works Monday-Friday 8-5. Central patrol doesn't have time. People that park in front of the Bainbridge apartments could care less about parking signs.

  20. "Make a name for himself in KCMO politics".
Yes, like the past and current group of electeds who have done nothing to address the ever-increasing homicides, out-of-control water bills, sewer system maintenance and improvements, poorly maintained streets, no bid contracts, airport terminal fiasco, hundreds of millions of dollars magically disappearing at 18th and Vine, massive debt, and a long long list of other "activities" that don't exactly encourage the public to warmly remember you.
Look at the list of names who occupied 12th and Oak over the years.
See anyone you're very proud of?

  23. Besnirched, Bothered and Bemildewed5/27/18, 6:16 AM

Kitty Cardarella is a nice enough lady, and Eric Bunch seems to always forget the "walk" part of his organization's name, but there are diametrically opposed problems with both of them.

"Shields" always seems to forget that her District comprises more than the "Old Northeast", and one thing we DON'T need is another Kay Barnes in office! Bunch comes across as almost as much of a "weathervane opportunist" as the clown in the Missouri Governor's office, and neither of them has any real accomplishments to their credit.

And that brings us to "what's-his-name", suddenly popping up out of left field to make both the above look like dynamic figures.

Yes, it's time for new faces in City Government, but surely KC can come up with better candidates than these three.
